Average food and clueless staff - Edit
I ordered the vegetable fajitas. I asked for the vegan option and the bar person stated it was 'all vegan as there's no meat in It'. I pointed out the vegan cheese option and the fact that it comes with sour cream. The menu said peppers, onions, mushrooms, sweetcorn and sun-dried tomatoes. It was all of those things, but mainly crunchy, oily onions and peppers, plus a LOT of sundried tomatoes. There were also a couple of slivers of mushroom.

I ordered The Big Vegan, my partner ordered the Southern Fried 'chicken' burger, we had the bruschetta to share and a cocktail each. Came to £30. Unfortunately we were both very disappointed as the quality of the burgers was terrible, (mine was burnt, my bf's was not Southern fried, more like oven cooked and overdone at that) the bun itself was 'rock' hard and there was no sauce to be found! The bruschetta was ok but needed moisture - oil, vinegar, something to moisten the bread, and the cocktail was nice as it was laced with booze! Won't be back I'm afraid.

Had nachos to start & then tofu fajitas for main. The portions were absolutely huge!! The nachos were very authentic & so tasty, the fajitas were the star of the show though, the tofu was marinated amazingly, it’s only a shame we couldn’t eat it all as we were absolutely stuffed! Would definitely share the main next time (we already shared the starter). Also had lovely cocktails (pina colada & mojitos), would love to come again child free and make the most of the evening.

Good vegan offerings in the centre of town - Edit
The family went there early one mid-week evening and could have found place both in- and outside. Not to say the place was at all unpopular, but more a testement to the size of the establishment and the time which we arrived.

We loved all the food, and would definitely recommend a visit if you find yourself in the neighbourhood. There was a good use of vegan cheese in the order we made, though I would say the nacho dish needs to be eaten "fresh", to avoid it hardening on the edges and softening too much in the middle. Perhaps if we had not chosen too much from the menu we would have managed that feat.

Well thought out vegan options for an omni place. All listed on a separate veggie/vegan menu on every table (vegan wines are now listed on the menu too). I love how they use Devon made Dragonfly tofu in several of their dishes. The marinated tofu with salsa verde and fajitas were both delicous. Portions were generous and good value. There are a couple of vegan desserts as well.

I'd not had food here for ages, but I'm pleased to say their menus just seem to keep getting better. We went down especially for the veggie / vegan offer on Sundays, and what they offer now is incredibly impressive - I had pizza with vegan cheese, a real treat that you can't usually find down in Torbay. Cocktails made to a high standard too. Will be back soon!

Read moreWe first ate at The Rock Garden as part of a group of 17 vegans, who were trying out the new vegan menu on a Saturday night. The service was excellent with great food at cheap prices, lively atmosphere, music & dancing!
The portions were large, the food was tasty and all the vegetables were freshly & inventively prepared. There is a choice of vegan cheese or cheeseless for the pizzas. They also stock vegan wine, which is not listed on the menu, but you can ask for it.
We would recommend the Tomato Bruschetta and the Fajitas. The salads are pretty awesome, also, with lots of sundried tomatoes.
You have to order and pay at the bar, which we did separately, but they managed to bring out all our food together. There is a gluten free menu, a vegetarian and a vegan menu. All the staff are smiley and helpful. There was live music which kept us dancing until late, after our meal.
We now eat here regularly and would recommend the vegan menu to everyone.
