The best vegan sushi I ever had. Certainly, some dishes are better than others, but overall a fantastic experience, better than dozens of other places I tried. It’s definitely not cheap, but decent value for money overall. The restaurant is also very spacious and has some cool art inside. It’s often busy so service can be a bit long, but nothing drastic. The restaurant venue, staff, and ambience were good, we had a pleasant time being there. However, the sushi that we had seen so well-recommend was actually quite underwhelming. They were all dressed up and colourful, but the overall flavour for most of them was just “cream cheese”. Especially considering the higher-end price point.
Read moreThey could have done with more potent defining flavours, the peanut one could have had a stronger peanut flavour, the BBQ one more of the BBQ sauce, the ‘tempura’ one was not crispy by the time it reached the table, and the seaweed one a better filling than just cream cheese.
That being said, their starters were tasty and varied.
Edit: We came back a second time with a friend, and the sushi this time was delicious! Perhaps we had a bad chef last time. Bizarre how the quality was so different. Anyhow, great sushi options and very tasty. Still think the seaweed one could have a little more flavor but overall a great experience!

Really good food, but the staff are very mean. We came to Barcelona to celebrate my daughter's 30th. This restaurant offers a free cocktail on your birthday. It was the day after her birthday, because we couldn't get to Barcelona on her actual birthday. This was her restaurant of choice to celebrate her birthday. They wouldn't give her the cocktail because it was one day after her birthday. Very disappointing. They missed out too, because we bought our drinks elsewhere

Read moreRoots and rolls is not a bad restaurant. But it's become outclassed. Bcn has many more high end vegan Asian fusion restaurants nowadays and R&R is easily the weakest of the 4. It has the highest prices and the worse food.
Veganashi is better for GF options, Modoki and Desoriente are just better restaurants overall.
As sad, I don't rate it as highly as I did before. And stop deleting my reviews please.

Im just glad I got this over Too Good To Go, because I would have hated myself for paying the full price.
Read moreThe creations they offer are unique, but the rice (which is the most important part about sushi in my opinion) was so bad. It tasted like nothing and I could swear they didnt use sticky rice, the rolls were just falling apart.
The sauce and portion size was fine and it was still edible, but I had supermarket sushi that tasted better than this.
I dont know if they make special portions for people buying on Too Good To Go that are of lower quality than the regular food they offer, but I what I had eaten that day doesnt compare to any review I read about them.
Cant say much about service as it was only pick up.

Cons: The food didnt taste like anything , No authentic sushi experience

I haven't tried much vegan sushi as it's a more niche part of vegan cuisine, but this is by far the best vegan sushi I have tried. There was no faux fish in what I tried but it was still incredibly impressive. The tasting platter was insanely good, every sushi type being uniquely its own taste. The bao buns were good as well. And the tempeh-tation was very impressive when I haven't liked tempeh dishes in the past.

Relatively fancy restaurant with a large choice of snacks, starters, salads, mains and desserts. The staff is extremely efficient. The food is good (the best so far for us in Barcelona) and very well presented. We took kimchi, cauliflower popcorn, breaded « chicken » and ramen. This restaurant is large and employs a large quantity of people. It is the opposite of the typical small, independent restaurant owned by a passionate vegan. But I’m glad! More vegan food served😄
