Great all vegan baked goods! - Edit
Very chic, rather extensive, but worth it! Was nice there! You can sit outside and on the other side of the street there’s the shop for the sweet tooth!

Nice spot for a quick vegan bite! - Edit
I had the hoisin bun and a cappuccino which was unfortunately drowned in hot milk, burying any of the rich espresso flavour... 😔

This bakery and deli is amazing, everything's so fresh and yummy. The pistachio tiramisu was especially tasty. Plus, the staff is super friendly.

Stunning plant-based pastries - Edit
Visited Saint Jean and tried a few things: the Pistachio Cruffin, Focaccia Slice, and the Smokey Mexican Galette. Everything was excellent.
Read moreThe Smokey Mexican Galette was the standout. I am normally not a fan of combining sweet and savory, but this one completely won me over.

Good but insanely expensive - Edit
We've had the rhubarb and mint danish (10/10 really delicious) and the pulled mushroom focaccia. The danish was great but the focaccia was very underwhelming. It was a small portion for almost 13€ and the taste wasn't worth the price😒

Poor customer service and quality - Edit
The first time I bought pastries here they were good , over the past month the quality has deteriorated a lot and the store assistants are very unfriendly. I recently bought a blueberry pastry and it was molded , when I went back they said oh sorry and they didn’t do anything about it.

really good vegan bakery - Edit
I loved the options and they were delicious. Though I do wish I walked across the street to their other location to see which options they had before deciding. I didn’t realize they have similar, but completely different options at both. Still delicious either way!

Perfect Spot for a Savory Bite - Edit
Not in the mood for something sweet? Saint-Jean Deli, right across from the bakery, is the perfect place for a delicious lunch or savory snack. The sandwiches, salads, and baked goods impress with classics like grilled cheese, but with an unexpected twist in flavor. They also offer a small selection of sweet treats, breads, and drinks. Tip: I highly recommend the chai latte!

Fantastic savoury pastries and sandwiches - Edit
The sandwiches described on the menu sounded great but today there were only pastries and cakes, so we shared three savoury pastries: spicy cheese croissant, hoisin bun and smoked feta galette. All fantastic!
Read moreOn our second visit, we got two sandwiches and two spicy cheese croissants to take away, and all were great again.

Delicious vegan food - Edit
The food is amazing, but the seating area is very small and the staff don’t even let you wash your hands after eating, even though they have a sink.. I couldn’t understand this. Other than that nice.😄

Blew my mind - Edit
Came here to get a sandwich for my travel day after checking out the bakery. I didn’t realize they would have so many pastries as well! I came early and only a few sandwiches were available so I randomly picked the chickn katsu. Oh my! It was so flavorful, the bread so good, and so saucy. The perfect sandwich (not something I’m usually impressed with but Saint-Jean changed that).

Great food, bad atmosphere - Edit
There’s no doubt that Saint Jean does some delicious vegan food, both sweet and savoury. However, it’s got some disappointing aspects that make me score it lower, as a local and once regular vegan customer.
Read moreIt’s clear that (most of) the customers and staff don’t care about animals.
Something that made this glaringly obvious to me last week was customers practically stepping on a poor injured pigeon who was struggling to move out the way in time. Customers and staff walked past him without even a flinch of concern.
After this encounter, when I went to order my food, I overheard the staff talking about how they crave “real meat” and there’s only “so much fake chicken they can take” - with shrill laughter. I found this extremely distasteful. Now I’m not saying you have to be vegan to work here, but with only a handful of all vegan places around, I’d like to feel comfortable and welcomed not mocked by the staff who work there. I don’t know if the owner is vegan and this might not be their intention, but it would be nice if they’d hire people who are more respectful of the cause, if not vegans themselves.
10/10 for the food though, just not the atmosphere.

Savoury Saint Jean - Edit
The savoury sister store to the other one with a perpetual queue. We tried 3 of the sandwiches during our trip, they are not as good as their pastry items we had but still decent option for lunch.

Oh how I wish I knew someone who works here! - Edit
Saint Jean the bakery often has a queue but across the road the deli which has almost as many cakes and sweets but also does savoury delights tends to be queue free! Go figure! Neither place makes it obvious they are a vegan but they are and they do it wonderfully. (I gave them a Happy Cow window sticker, I'll be happily surprised if it gets put in their window.) My very tardy mate made up for leaving me hanging around without contacting me for almsot an hour by offering to py for our "snacks"! That must have been painful when it came to paying. On my own I would only be able to afford a treat from here every now and then. Let loose by my comrades guilt inspired generosity we had a party! And I can promise you nothing was a dissapointment. The tuna sandwhich was swell, the tiramisu cake superb and the other five things we shared inbetween those all tasted great. Treat yourself to a pastry every now and then or better still find a mate to treat you to two!
