Rural location may require advance transportation planning.

A nostalgic Japanese countryside stay surrounded by nature

Kawabe no Yado Sanzui is a private, traditional Japanese guesthouse in Taiki, Mie Prefecture, surrounded by mountains, forests, and the beautiful Ouchiyama River. Limited to one group per day, it offers a peaceful and personal experience away from busy tourist destinations.

Guests can enjoy authentic Japanese countryside activities, including cooking rice in a traditional kamado stove, making homemade bread and pizza, BBQs, kimono dressing, and seasonal nature experiences. The nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere feels like visiting a Japanese grandmother’s home.

For vegan and vegetarian travelers, this could be an interesting opportunity to experience rural Japanese culture. However, meals and ingredients should be discussed with the host in advance, as dedicated vegan or vegetarian menus are not confirmed. If you are looking for an immersive cultural stay rather than a conventional hotel, Sanzui is worth considering.

Pros: Authentic Japanese culture, Peaceful natural surroundings, Private and personal experience

Cons: Menu need to discussed in advance, Need more effort to plan the transportation
