Good coffee - Edit
Oat latte was tasty but too expensive, a regular size of the latte costs 6,50 an is their "big latte". Their regular latte costs 5,50 and is quite small...

Great cafe, most options are vegan - Edit
This cafe is next to the Shakespeare and Co bookstore, and has a view of the Notre Dame. It's a perfect spot to be a tourist for the day and be vegan! #Veganuary

Nice lunch after browsing the bookshop - Edit
Daily dishes with good coffee. I had the lentil soup with bread, it was hearty and tasty. My husband had the vegan bagel, made with tapenade and pickled carrot. Good spot for a quick snack.

Because of the book store - Edit
I’d wanted to visit Shakespeare and Company for a while and visiting the café next door was one more thing to tick off during my visit. If it weren’t because of the novelty of the bookstore I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.
Read moreThe coffee and vegan donut were very good, although slightly overpriced in my opinion. The sitting space inside is limited but there are plenty of picnic tables outside.

Minimal vegan options - Edit
As the title says, minimal vegan options. We went there at 10:30am and they were already out of their oat chia breakfast (only vegan breakfast option). They had a vegan oat bar and a vegan chocolate donut but they were okay… although staff was great, very kind. They had oat milk for 50 cents

Not bad - Edit
They have a few vegan pastries but they were just ok - the donut I got was a bit dense and so was the crust on my companion’s (non vegan) pie. The coffee was fine but not amazing. It has a cute atmosphere. English is spoken here so it’s also good for tourists who don’t speak French and want to be sure they’re getting a vegan pastry. Obviously the real draw here is the bookstore itself.

Vistas a Notre Dame - Edit
26 € por un desayuno de dos (eso sí con tartas y donuts) no los pagas todos los días, pero si enfrente tienes Notre Dame y lo que te has tomado está muy bueno lo pagas con gusto.

to stay all day, or not to stay, that is the question - Edit
i do think i dedicated all day to being here. to be fair, shakespeare and co is an antiquarian english bookshop in paris, with a cafe attached. so i sat down in an upstairs window seat with the pianist and i read all day, stopping into the cafe on my way out. it wasn't quite mealtime, so i just had a drink and pastry, but the atmosphere was so so cute, bustling, and very literary. i absolutely loved it. it is quite small, but that is part of the charm and they have benches outside, where i took myself, and sat reading, sipping, and looking at the seine and notre dame!

Nice place, but expensive and rude staff - Edit
I think that 8€ for a bagel with hummus, carrot and aubergine is quite steep, but of course you’re also paying for atmosphere and for the beautiful location. I have been before and always liked it, however the staff can be very rude. I ordered a homemade citronnade with my bagel and had to ask again for the drink which didn’t come. There must have been confusion amongst the staff because one of them pointed at me directly. When I finally got it another member of staff came over and looked at my receipt which I had laid on the table just in case and said, as if I wasn’t even there, “she did order it!”
Read moreSeems as if they didn’t even believe me. I felt like such a fuss had been made over a minor misunderstanding and I did not feel welcome.
Pros: Plenty of drinks options hot and cold, Clearly labelled vegan options
Cons: Cher, Rude staff (even by Parisian standards)

Nice but too pricey - Edit
Yes, it’s opposite Notre Dame. Yes, it’s quirky. But when you’re paying €5 for a latte, you don’t expect to pay 0.50 extra for non-dairy milk, especially when the latte is tiny.
