Best Mexican Food in Socal - Edit
Shane ain't [censored] around. These tamales & tacos are right up there with anything you can find South of the border. The beans & rice alone, I could live off. There's nothing around here that can compete with what Shane is putting down.

Shane’s is legitimately a must drop in and go now spot! The menu special tostada de tinga is by far my favorite on the menu. It’s packed full of fresh flavors and the tinga is the best vegan protein I’ve had in a long while. It’s uniquely different and delicious! Order some tamales to go and you won’t be disappointed. The tamales and the masa is both flavorful and memorable! 🫔✨

So glad we found this place and stopped in. The owners were super knowledgeable and friendly and it was easy to tell how much they cared about their shop and putting out great food. Ended up with three tamales (chick’n and green chili, beans and cheese (had to try the beans they cook for 24 hours and they were damn good) and the pineapple date (very happy they had a sweet tamale) and the tinga bowl. After they gave me a sample of the tinga I had to get a bowl and my wife was super happy I did.

The best tamales I’ve ever had vegan or otherwise. Shane is amazing and the location is right next to a great vegan market and an amazing vegan pizza place. We drive an hour once a week to eat here. LOVE IT!!!

Read moreMy daughter is a picky non -vegan and she said they were the best tamales she ever had. She has a Mexican born and raised grandma who makes amazing non-vegan tamales so the fact that she said these were the best she's had says a lot.
Pros: Located next to a vegan market., In a plaza with three other vegan restauraunts, Friendly service

This is Southern California at its best. Absolutely authentic Mexican food made vegan, with love. It’s next to a vegan grocery store and a vegan pizza place, both of which are unaffiliated but it’s nice to see a concentration of vegan businesses on the same corner.

Shanes Tamales is inside of a place with a big sign that says SubVegan Sandwiches. Also, the area that they're located in was unexpectedly cool. There's a fully vegan market right next door, as well as two more fully vegan restaurants as the other neighbors. Really great little spot.

Excellent Tamales and Customer Service - Edit
Last night I went to the Urthly Vegan Market with the intention of buying supplies and making tacos for dinner. However my mind quickly reset my intentions for tamales at Shane's next door. This was my best decision of the day. I place my order for Chik'n Tamale and a Chik'n Tinga bowl and while this was prepared I grabbed a few items for tacos this weekend instead.
Read moreShane is always so friendly and his food is amazing. I love his tamales and they are always moist and super fresh. I have been a fan of this food since he was exclusively a pop up, and I am not so happy to have him here.
My daughter ate the bowl and is now obsessed with picked onions. She was very happy to have this food ready for her after a long late night at work. My tame was super flavorful with a perfect balance of filling and masa. Many places with give you just a spec of filling in their tamales this is a generous portion and as I type this I think I may have to repeat for lunch today.
I believe they are still in soft opening so the old signage is still there from SubVegan and the new is in the works. It is a process and I can't wait to see what is next. Regardless of the exterior everything from the interior is delicious.
