Crispy eggplant to die for

Shanghai2k18 is a stylish, laid-back Chinese restaurant tucked away in a cellar right in the heart of Oslo. While the menu can be frustrating for vegans and vegetarians due to poor labeling, there's a dedicated section with vegetarian dishes, many of which are vegan-friendly.

Everything I’ve tried here has been excellent, but the standout, without a doubt, is their crispy eggplant with coriander. It's possibly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had—definitely worth trying, and not just for eggplant lovers. The balance of flavors and textures is remarkable, making it a must-order.

The restaurant has a classy, almost upscale vibe, and while it's quite popular, I've never had trouble finding a seat without a reservation. However, the service can be quite slow, so be prepared to wait a bit before placing your order. That said, the food more than makes up for it.

It’s on the expensive side, and while the prices don’t necessarily align with the overall experience of the restaurant, they do reflect the quality of certain dishes—especially that crispy eggplant. If you’re a fan of Chinese cuisine, it’s worth visiting, and you absolutely have to try the crispy eggplant. It’s seriously delicious.

Pros: Crispy eggplant is fantastic

Cons: Expensive , Slow service
