Absolutely delighted to try Spicy Moon! Quirky fun atmosphere and delicious eats. I studied abroad in China and never thought I’d find vegan Chinese that was full of complex flavors. You nailed it Spicy Moon.

Mediocre - Edit
Honesty so disappointed that I didn't like Spicy Moon more! It was one of the most highly recommended vegan restaurants in NYC. Walked in on a Friday at 6 pm without a reservation and was able to get a table. Didn't love the dim lights and loud music (it honestly had a club feel with the DJ they had there as well). Menu was huge which was nice! We ordered two chef specials and veggie fried rice. We did the General Tso's chicken and broccoli beef for the chef specials. Everything was good but not amazing. Didn't feel like it was worth it for the price (yes I know it's New York). I'd definitely be willing to give Spicy Moon another try but would want to go to other places in New York first before coming back.

Check out the different spot of the spicy moon, they have about like three or four different spot, some of the spot is quiet, I’m not used to the loud music at this spot neither, I like the outdoor sitting area on the other spot more, it’s quiet and I can enjoy under the tree

I see you went to the branch Bowery, I’ll recommend the 3rd st spot outdoor area for you, I’ve been to all three locations, besides Chelsea is newly open I’m not sure about that one, I think 3rd st has the best outdoor dining area, I don’t really like to eat inside their store because most of their indoor has the night club kind of atmosphere, I don’t really like loud music neither . Hope those info helps

Delicious spicy Chinese food - Edit
Had a delightful lunch at the Spicy Moon recently. Ordered the lychee ginger mocktail which had genuine flavor. The eggplant appetizer and mapu tofu were both excellent

Will convince your local meat-eater - Edit
Went to Spicy Moon for the first time last year with my colleague who was in town. She couldn't stop thinking about it and insisted we return - and it definitely didn't dissapoint. Highly recommend the Mapo Tofu (which iI've gotten both times) and the Salt and Pepper (a new discovery).

Too loud - Edit
I hate to give any vegan restaurant a bad review, but it was just way too loud. We will not be going back until this changes.

Eh. - Edit
Spicy Moon definitely just wants the photos for the ‘gram with their colorful pink signs and wallpaper. Just not overly impressive when there’s Bodhi Kosher nearby in China Town.
Read moreFood came out pretty cold. Things were overly expensive and honestly the environment wasn’t great (I don’t love the wannabe aesthetic restaurants) to enjoy what should feel like delicious comforting food.

A fun discovery - Edit
A lively, loud, fun place bathed in low pink lighting. We shared a bunch of small plates and a noodle dish. My favorite was the Hen of the Woods Bao Bun, and the Dan Dan Noodles were good, too (we had them with mock duck). My friend especially enjoyed the vegetable wontons in chili oil. Desserts were tasty but small and expensive.

100% good place.
Read moreI'm looking forward to visiting more locations because it looks like they have different vibes.
This location is larger and lovely. Food wise, my fave was the vegetable wonton in chili sauce (not overly spicy) just yum. Green beans ( meat) are worth a get too, and the baos!

Tasty and Efficient - Edit
Our dining experience lived up to the hype. I’d urge folks to do their homework and look at the menu prior to avoid ordering similar dishes or flavors (note: no menu QR code is available and the menus are super tiny and the lighting is bad so best of luck). The Tsao mushrooms and the Dan Dan Noodles (gluten free) were hits. Was $105 USD for 4 dishes.

Amazing Food & Great Drinks! - Edit
Read moreSpicy Moon is such a gem! The *Dan Dan Noodles* are an absolute must-try—perfectly flavorful and spicy. The drinks are also fantastic, making it a great spot for a night out.
I love the Bowery location; it has such a great vibe. Definitely try other menu items… Spicy Moon is 100% worth visiting. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve tried szechuan noodles which were honestly a bit too spicy for me although I like spicy, but other than that they were good, I also had gyozas which were very tasty. Nice space and fair lunch-menu prices.

I love Szechuan food so it’s fantastic not to have to worry if something I don’t want to eat sneaked into my food. It was good quality and the cocktails and really innovative. Will definitely go again next time I’m in NY.

Noisy, cramped and poor service - Edit
We had the Vegan Duck Wrap for starters, and the General Tso's Style, Kung Pao Style, Rice Noodles with Vegetables, with White rice, for mains. The food was quite good, but the culinary experience was marred by the poor ambiance and service. The music was way too loud. The seating was cramped. The order was mixed up and late. Won't be going back!!!

Incredible! - Edit
Wow! What a vibey place with the most delicious food! We tried the wontons in chili oil, the veggie spring rolls, Dan Dan noodles with beef and our favourite the kung pao tofu! All super tasty. Best to order a few plates and share as portions for the mains are pretty generous and the rich so may get a bit much to have an individual plate alone.
Read moreCame another time with family, and ordered family style - same as before but added in general tsaos which was great!
In my opinion I think you can skip the spring rolls. There other dishes are tastier😄

Mediocre food - Edit
I came with high hopes but everything we ordered was mediocre at best, bad at worst. The lettuce wraps had corn and mushroom on a wilted piece of lettuce with no structure or definition. The kung pao was breaded tofu in some non-descript sauce - nothing about the flavor was distinctive. The chilli wontons were tasteless. The red bean bun had such a miniscule amount of red bean paste that I blinked and I missed it. Can’t believe we took a metro across town just to eat here. Definite miss.
