Super Favorite! - Edit
Absolutely delighted to try Spicy Moon! Quirky fun atmosphere and delicious eats. I studied abroad in China and never thought I’d find vegan Chinese that was full of complex flavors. You nailed it Spicy Moon.

It was ok - Edit
We came for brunch and were the only people there. We ordered a few dim sum items and they all came with the same sauce. A good sauce, but lacked variety. Each thing we ordered was good, but not memorable. Music was aggressively loud and it was so cold inside that I hurried to finish my meal so I could go outside and warm up again. But service was incredibly slow despite the fact that the restaurant was empty. So expensive for such basic food.

Great vegan vibe - Edit
We went with an 11 year old who “doesn’t even like vegan food”. She loved EVERYTHING. We particularly liked the chili wontons and the beef and broccoli. The mocktails were delicious and it’s a really fun vibe. Go here for sure.

Amazing - Edit
Everything was so delicious!! Our food came out super quickly, and the staff was very friendly & helpful. Especially loved the string beans and kung pao bites. So so good, definitely going back soon.

Amazing meal! - Edit
Adorable spot with even better food. The kung poa tofu was 10/10. One of my favorite meals I’ve had in a long time.

Ignored for 35 minutes - Edit
Spicy Moon has been one of my faves in NYC for a while. I try to go whenever. But this location. We were seated quickly. We waited 35 minutes without even getting a drink order. We didn’t want to imagine how long we would wait once we put in an order. The waitstaff avoided eye contact. We walked out. I still love this place, but it was weird. It feels like it’s getting too big, too fast.

Huge Fan of Spicy Moon! - Edit
Spicy Moon is my all-time fave restaurant. So exciting there are now three locations, and Bowery is definitely the largest venue.
Read moreMy staple orders are Kung Pao (mix of tofu and vegetables) and Dan Dan Noodles (with beyond beef), both of which are consistently delicious. I like to try a new dish each time I go. This time I tried the Crispy Eggplant small bite dish — very crispy, as advertised, but feels a bit heavy given how fried it is.
The Thai Iced Tea is yummy but overpriced ($12) for a drink with excessive ice.
Great and colorful ambience, but loud music in the environment.

Phenomenal Food, Great Service - Edit
1st time visitor. Food lived up to all of the hype. We had dumplings, noodles, spring rolls, fried eggplant, crab Rangoon, steamed buns, scallion cakes and more. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. The portions were good sized, the freshness and taste were unbeatable.

Ok but not excellent - Edit
A large menu, big portions, but the flavor wasn't what I expected. Ordered the salt and pepper style and dry pot style. It's was ok but the flavor was underwhelming and plain. We were disappointed and probably won't go back. The small plates were better. Got the string beans, brussel sprouts and steamed dumplings. They were pretty good but for the money paid I would probably go somewhere else next time. The vegetable rice that we upgraded to come with the entrees was really good though! Lots of vegetables and rice was well seasoned. Maybe because we ordered delivery it wasn't fresh but it only took 45 minutes from order to delivery so maybe that played a role in it. Also, we are travelling so had no utensils with us and there were none in our order so had to scrounge up some forks. Some condiments would have been nice also but did not come in order. So overall it filled us up but can't say i would order again. With so many Vegan options in NYC will go elsewhere.

The Food is Overpriced and So So - Edit
We ordered the fried sizzling tofu, potato dumplings, and char siu bun. The sizzling tofu is overly seasoned and greasy, slightly spicy. The dumplings taste like cold potato salad with dill, and the char siu bun is so small that I could eat in one bite. What a joke! The service is terrible, too. Our server did not even check in on us. Will not go back to this place!

Spicy Szechuan - Edit
Came back to check out Spicy moon’s newest location on Bowery, what a beautiful restaurant! Huge place, beautifully decorated with a large dining area and a huge bar and brewery section. Had their lunch special with steamed dumplings and the dry pepper meal, full of flavors and spice, absolutely loved it. Highly recommend, huge portion and very reasonably priced.

Being a California Vegan you can’t help but notice how the Big Apple Vegan Restaurants are not really into fresh fruit and vegetables. This establishment does have specific vegetables option that could be considered a bit greasy. Overall this is a place visiting because of its branding.

Very good could use more protein - Edit
I thought the food was amazing but I would have liked more protein in all of the options. I ate three apps and half an entree myself because it was mostly carbs. But I would definitely recommend the bao and scallion pancakes. The drinks were super strong too.

Good vegan Chinese restaurant - Edit
Great place. The entire menu has soy. If you are allergic, The restaurant will have to prepare your order accordingly. Only fried rice and lo mein can be made soy free (as of April 2024).

Pros: Leckeres Comfort Food, Preis-Leistung top, Nettes Personal
Cons: Klositz war sauber, aber schon merklich alt

Reliably solid vegan Chinese food. Fresh, flavorful, generous portions. So glad to see so many locations around NYC. This is the largest of the ones I’ve visited with a separate bar area.

Delicious - Edit
I have to start by saying you have to have the duck wraps. I’ve been to this location countless times but yesterday was the first time I went at night. Total vibrant Friday night scene. Food was as amazing as ever. I love the duck wraps (I know, I had to mention them again), the string beans, the kung pao style veges and tofu (hard for me not to get it every single time), the Brussels, the eggplant, and for dessert every flavor mochi (passion fruit my favorite, lychee and coconut). Great spot for lunch or dinner.

Wonderful - Edit
The food was delicious. I ordered the dan dan noodles with beyond beef. It was the best I've ever had! My friends ordered the fried rice with beyond beef. We also ordered the streamed vegetable dumplings. They were also super good! The place was very full so I would suggest to always reserve and get there ahead of time. The music was loud, so it's not the best place to have a long conversation with someone.
