Buffet! Or “let’s try it all”

I love Spirit! It’s a veggie buffet restaurant and the majority of the options are vegan. The price is based on weight. I couldn’t resist to try lots of stuff. So many tasty options! Highly recommended!

Pros: Most options are vegan, Buffet!

Amazing!!!!!!

If your anything like me you want to try everything in a restaurant. Now you can! At spirt most of the options are vegan too! They have amazing savory dishes and even some beautiful, unique desserts! Everything is great quality, and delicious!
One thing to beware of is that the price is by weight, so if you get everything your heart desires it could add up and get expensive! But it’s well worth if if you ask me💕

Delicious!

Buffet is mostly vegan and all the foods are very skillfully prepared and delicious. The Sunday we visited, there was for example tempe, tofu, seitan, vegan eggsalad, green salads and seaweed, green and white asparagus and mushrooms.

Pros: Lots of vegan options on the buffet., Vegan cakes and pastries., Good coffee.

Cons: Quite expensive, but hey, quality is!

Fav restaurant

I come here very often. I really like the place and the food. But it is expensive unfortunately. And it would be great if it would be fully vegan.

Pros: A lot of vegan options, You can read what is in the dish, Play corner for kids

Cons: Expensive, Eggs and dairy

Buffet style, lots of great choices, but expensive

This is a buffet style eatery, with a supermarket. The food is very healthy and delicious, but it's by the weight. I got a very small amount of a lot of dishes to try, and it really adds up!

I really recommend it in relation to the food. Everything I got was delicious and so many choices! However, for me it was too expensive.

Pros: Very tasty, Spoiled for choice!, Healthy and fresh

Cons: Expensive

Should be all vegan!

Great place to eat healthy vegan food. Many options and clearly indicated what’s vegan. Unfortunately there are also eggs and cheese - I think the restaurant should be completely vegan. They know how to cook vegan. It would be so nice if they could just be real cruelty free!

good variety and different

Great selection of different foods and interesting format where you pay by weight. Problem is we didn't really have much on the plate and it was 12€ already so not good value. I think the bread might have been for free but no one told us and didn't realise until we left. Good quality food though with nice flavours

Pros: lot of Choice

Cons: Very expensive

Wayyyy too Munch salt!

When I entered the restaurant, I was excited. All of the food looked really good. But what a dissapointment it was. Most of the items were way, way, way too salty. The tempeh was so salty that it hurt my mouth. The falafel was so salty that my falafel monster daughter didn’t want to eat it after onze bite. When I tried it, I didn’t even want her to continue, because everyone knows that salt is a heart attack in a bottle. I told the staff and they listened to my complaint, even offered me a drink. But, I told them about the tempen and asked them in this was a mistake. They didn’t answer, but I also didn’t see them try the tempeh or take the bowl away after my complaint. 5 hours later, I still feel i need to drink non stop. Horrible! Expensive and dissapointing.

Pros: Location

Cons: Salty, Way too salty, Enormous amounts of salt

Incredible variety of the tastiest vegan food imaginable

We were AMAZED by the number of vegan and veg dishes in this pay-by-weight eatery. You could just see that quality and taste were top of the list. Recommend 100% if you’re in this great city.

Pros: HUGE variety , Clean continuously replaced food

Cons: A little pricey but totally worth it

Definitely worth a visit

This place had some of the best vegan food I’ve ever eaten in Amsterdam! It’s buffet style (weigh and pay), but the food doesn’t lack quality because of this. I got a huge mixture of dishes, including satay chicken skewers, seasoned chips, sushi, curries with fake meat, chicken strips with spicey mayo. BUT the real reason to visit here is the dessert buffet! They had so many options, and I was there half an hour before close, so they probably have more earlier in the night. I got vegan crepe brûlée, chocolate mousse, blueberry tart and poached pears. The chocolate mousse is out of this world.

Pros: So many vegan options , Weigh and pay, able to choose how much you spend , DESSERTS

Cons: Not in the city centre

Taste buds singing

Traveling from New York, I was hoping to find some good vegan eats. This has so much going for it: tasty food, amazing variety, friendly helpful staff, lots of space and reasonably priced

Pros: Great and delicious choice for entrees , Desserts were also amazing, Relaxed atmosphere where people are open to chat

Bad staff

The food was ok. Very greesy but some of the food available was food (the falafels were the best). The summer rolls were very hard, definitly not fresh. Very expensive and the staff was rude and didn’t seem like they wanted to be there nor help the clients.

Good food, but very expensive

Loved the buffet with so many choices! This is a great place if you, like me, go with a large group with different food allergies and dietairy requirements. There is something for everyone.

I just wish the restaurant would include a scale at the buffet, allowing you to get an indication of the price before you head to the cash register. When I asked the staff about the pricing, she told me it is about €30 per kilogram. This might not seem like a lot but we all had at least 600 - 700 grams and ended up paying €20+ euro per plate. It made sense that we weren't allowed to put stuff back in the buffet, but putting a scale at the buffet would have helped us make better decisions, and perhaps even go back for a second round.

I would say that the friendliness of the staff needs some improvement. They seemed uninterested in their customers, but then again it is a buffet so I guess service isn't their main focus. The food was good so if you have some extra money to spend and looking for lots of veggie options, this is the place for you!

Pros: Good food, Lots of seating

Cons: Expensive (not able to weigh food before you pay), Staff seemed uninterested in guests

LOVE IT

We went here twice during our stay in Amsterdam. The food was absolutely delicious, and so many vegan options! We were amazed by the shiitake stake and the passion fruit-chocolate crumble dessert - wow!

You pay by weight, my turned out a bit pricey but that's most likely my own fault for not being able to contain myself and having a little bit of everything :)

Worth a visit!

Pros: Delicious food, Many vegan options, Interesting dishes!

Cons: A bit pricey

Heavenly and vast array of vegan and vegetarian food

My spouse and I who have been vegan since 1991 and 1990 respectively just tried SPIRIT. We heard about it by word of mouth and it may well have become my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. The food choices for vegans and vegetarians is vast and delicious. It is an enormous buffet that you pay for by weight. They have such an array that any vegan will be in seventh heaven. The pictures they have on their website definitely do not do the food justice, for we heaped our plates with the most delicious and imaginative food. They have vegan sushi that was just fantastic. They have vegan spring rolls that were scrumptious. They have seitan steak that was yummy. They had tofu curry...they have chocolate raspberry cake that was decadent ... they have waffles,,,and so on and so forth. The atmosphere is lovely and they have outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is harder to find vegan breakfast and so we are excited to try it soon. My spouse and I will go again and again. If you go, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Amazing choice , Fantastic desserts, Large and great atmosphere

Cons: Un peu cher

Really good vegan/vegetarian buffet

Lots of excellent, well marked, vegan options in the extensive buffet. The mushroom "steak" was incredible. But my big plate of food was all really good. And tbe vegan desserts in the buffet were also way yummy.

Plenty of seating.

The buffet is charged by weight. I was super hungry, and, with bread (which was very good, but charged extra) and tea (also very good), it cost me €27 for my huge plate of excellent food.

Pros: Lots of really good vegan options

Cons: Pricey

Great vegetarian buffet

It is very nice place with a lot of variety of meals. Everything is fresh and tasty. Also I like that the ingredients are written next to the meal . For 2 big plates I paid 20 euro and I think it is reasonable price for this food. The only thing I find a bit strange - there are plenty of meals with tofu and tempeh and different veggies, but no meals with beans .

Pros: Tasty food, , friendly staff, good value

Cons: none

the best - a pleasure to eat here

Predominantly vegan but be careful a few dishes and desserts have eggs. Items are marked and show ingredients. No meat in kitchen. Read the ingredients to double check. Mostly organic delicious food. Asian, Dutch, continental. Not spicy although sauces are available. Loved the falafel. Everything is wonderful in taste, health and Ingredients. Daily buffet with salads and hot food. Offers choice of four soups on side coffee and juice bar. Peaceful clean place with good ambiance. Plenty of seats. I am hooked and would love to go every week. Price for buffet is 30 euros a kilo so can be pricey but well worth it. Shares door with a health organic food coop. Good to shop. Do go, support quality and enjoy.

Pros: taste, quality, variety, service, ambiance

Cons: location is a little difficult to get to but not b

Spirit in Amsterdam!

Finally we can enjoy the Spirit restaurant not only in Rotterdam but also in Amsterdam! Amazing place!!! Everything is vegetarian and I think about 80% is also vegan. It is a buffet: you can take whatever you want and they weigh the food to get the price. It is very nice, but it is more expensive than the one in Rotterdam (because the rent of the building in Rotterdam is lower) which is absolutely a shame! The food is really good, but the taste quality is not Always as stable as the one in Rotterdam. But vegetarian and vegan foodlovers should absoltely visit this food walhalla! There is lot's of vegan pastry, vegan ice cream (also in buffet style). And in this place there is a really great bio grocery shop (called Odin). There are lot's of seats (inside and outside seating and possibility to reserve also for large groups). Hygienic place, professional. You can parc your car for free in their car parking the first hours if you scan the ticket at the paydesk of the restaurant).

Pros: vegan / vegetarian WALHALLA!!!!!, buffet style, great tasting food
