Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Great food, love the social concept, fair prices, 100% vegan

I had the cheese plate and the goulash. Very tasty, nice staff. You have the option to pay for the meal of a person in need (very reasonable price). The cheese plate is awesome - this restaurant appears to be in the year 2030 when it comes to vegan cheese. Highly recommended.

Pros: 100% vegan + social (helping people in need), Very tasty, cheese was particularly good, Nice staff, good prices

Beautiful restaurant with delicious traditional Czech food!

We visited this restaurant twice during our 4-day visit to Prague, and enjoyed everything we tried! The staff was very helpful in guiding our choices toward the more traditional Czech offerings that we were looking for. There is a full bar, excellent hot and cold drink selections, and a small dessert case with options that varied from one day to the next. We ordered 3 mains each time to get a chance to try a few different things. While the menu is expansive, we loved the Halušky and Schnitzel so much we got them both times we visited. HIGHLY recommend this place for a warm meal and a cozy atmosphere!

Pros: Price, Atmosphere, Varied options

Delicious Czech Classics

We visited twice, two days in a row it was so good! We tried the day menu (170cz or £6) of soup and a main, the goulash soup was nice with bits of soy mince and the dumplings delicious. The schnitzel and potato salad was lovely and fresh, the duck and red cabbage was a heavy meal but also delicious. The halusky (traditional thick soft noodles) was salty and hearty -also good! All portions are large and filling. Drinks reasonable and lots of options too.

A social enterprise, with a large and bistro-like ambience. The menu is varied and includes many vegan versions of local dishes. The restaurant is large to walk around, traditional seats and benches, one small step in. Easily accessible bathrooms, although stalls are a little small. They have the option to pay a meal forward to someone in need, which is perfect.

Pros: Social enterprise , Traditional food, Good lunch menu

Cons: Desserts not so good

A place to surely return to!

Strecha has everything I'm looking for when it comes to eating out:
- delicious, flavorful food
- super friendly staff
- such a nice vibe
- affordable (paid ca. 35€ for a 2 person dinner incl. beer & tip)

Would be my 1st restaurant to come back to when returning to Prague.

New wave music vibes + good times 😋 🌱 🎶

The food on the menu was a mixture of traditional Czech and contemporary items. Healthy options for those conscientious of their portion and quality as well as delicious comfort food. The draught beer and specialty drinks were affordable and delicious. This place was so good that we had our lunch there on one day and returned the next for dinner. We absolutely loved the alternative staff and the new wave/post punk/rock music 🎵 my favourite feature of was the pay it forward meal that you could purchase for a homeless or low income person to claim another time. This place is a winner 🥇 I had dumplings with smoked soy mince and red caramelised cabbage . On another day I had the salad with golden beetroot and seeds. My partner had the set menu for lunch - soup and paprika chickpeas and dumplings. On the other day she had no duck and red cabbage with red dumplings. Can’t wait to come back here when we return to Prague.

Pros: Completely vegan 🌱 and high quality , Great cause for social enterprise/charity, Excellent vibes and range of trad Czech food

cheese and fries is a must to try

I went two times to this place when in Prague. Cheese and fries is unbeatable but is difficult to state if the best because I couldn't try all the dishes, but everything I tried was very good

Pros: food, variety, staff

vegan goulash

The goulash was very tasty, even if it was a little spicy. The portion was very large. The ambience of the restaurant was unfortunately a bit boring.

Can’t recommend it enough!

This is honestly one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in. The staff was so friendly, the food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was great. I loved that being vegan didn’t stop me from being able to try traditional Czech cuisine and the waitress very kindly gave me some suggestions when I asked what she would recommend. They also have a wide selection of drinks both alcoholic and non- alcoholic and the prices are so reasonable. I got a very big, hearty meal for just €8!!

Pros: Very affordable , Delicious food , Authentic local cuisine

Great vegan versions of traditional food!

Really great food, and nice to be able to try local cuisines we wouldn’t be able to try otherwise! We had the ‘beef’ goulash and the schnitzel which were delicious. Pretty cheap as well! Highly recommend.

This place never fails

Been a fan of this place for years. They used to be located in a smaller restaurant in Žižkov. Made it more difficult to get a table. Regardless of the old or new place, it has the same vibe. Calm. Long wooden tables. Great service.
You get a lot of food for what you pay for. I am also a fan of the social project this restaurant stands for, to help people in dire and precarious situations. It is possible to donate money for a meal to a homeless person.

Cake was decent

I just came here for a snack, and had a matcha cake, which was much better than I expected it to be. However, the cake selection wasn't that impressive.

Vegan Fried Cheese!

This was an absolutely amazing restaurant! The selection of vegan ‘traditional’ Czech food was incredible. It was so difficult to choose what to have. I ended up ordering the fried cheese and it was delicious. All of the staff were wonderful, it’s such a friendly, welcoming place and it’s in a great location. I would highly recommend it and I will definitely go back the next time I am in Prague! Loved it!

Wonderful😍

We tried schnitzel, gulasch, kebab, dumplings, no-ribs and some lemonades, everything was really tasty and satisfying, and the service has been fast. I don't give 5 stars, because the dishes were too salty.

Pros: You would not say that it's vegan, Not expensive

Cons: Too salty

Ristorante vegano con l’anima

Il locale è molto carino. Oltre al cibo buono ed economico mi ha colpito il fatto che questo ristorante sia un progetto sociale che aiuta le persone in difficoltà a reinserirsi. Attenzione agli animali, all’ambiente e alle persone. Cosa si può desiderare di più?

Classic Czech pub & restaurant, but vegan!

I used to go to the place when it was still in Žižkov. It was my favourite place near work, with a low-priced vegan lunch menu, friendly and hard-working service and good beer. I have to say the food was very good at the time, but I wouldn't say it was top notch. Subsequently, the place closed down and reappeared in downtown Prague 1. What they have done with the venue is just fabulous. A classic Czech pub, but everything is vegan? I'm not going to lie, I was more than impressed and not just because there aren't that many good places in the area.

As for the place itself, the style of the place totally suits me. Big tables, great beer, service is sometimes slower but very diligent. The food is excellent. I like to come here for the burgers and beer which the place takes more than good care of. Sometimes I come here purely for a beer with friends. The place is really spacious. I come here really often and considering the prices, the food is great and there's hardly ever anything wrong.

I can only recommend Bistro Střecha to anyone who visits Prague and would like to try our traditional food. I would also like to point out their social program and employment and help to the needy. More businesses like this.

Pros: Food & Beer, Location, Social program & help
