Yummy, Vegan Vietnamese lunch. - Edit
We had a very good time at this restaurant, the service was very good and the facility was very clean. Our server wanted to confirm that we knew it was a vegan establishment, and I then responded with “well, I hope so”. He said a lot of people come in here and don’t know it’s vegan, and they get mad. That sucks to be them. I’m glad it’s vegan, that’s why we were there.

Really great flavors - Edit
Granted we came about half an hour before closing, the server did not seem too happy about serving us, so that was a bit sad.
Read moreHowever, the food was excellent. We tried the Cha Dum – Tofu Mini Pie it was really delicious and fun to eat! I had the Five Spice Ramen Soup because I wanted to try lotus root & lily flowers, it was really delicious! My husband had the lemongrass mock chicken vermicelli bowl, also really really delicious! Lovely, quite atmosphere even if a bit dated, well worth it for the delicious food!

Super authentic and flavourful! - Edit
Really beautiful restaurant by Safeway in Calgary town. Lots of seating inside and lots of plants. Wasn’t expecting much but was super surprised.
Read moreWe got the mini tofu pie, com bi cha thit nuong, and the tofu soup. We shared everything and it all was amazing 🤩
The tofu pie was so delicious and had a lot of flavour. You have to pour the sauce on top, then you the crackers to scoop it up. When you run out you use the lettuce underneath.
The tofu soup was huge and had the most flavourful pieces of marinated tofu in it. The com bi was the best tho. The tofu strips were so good and so was the mock meatloaf.
Would go back again!!
Pros: Lots of authentic options, Super flavourful, Beautiful interior
Cons: Loud noise coming from ventilation

Delicious Laksa - Edit
I had the laksa, it was pretty good and the portion was large. I personally would have preferred it without the mock crab meat and had more tofu instead. Would go back to try more items from the menu.

I eat here once a week min, I love it!!
Read moreTo be fair Vietnamese cuisine has always been my favorite so when I went vegan ~6y ago I was on the hunt for a good one. Tamarind Vietnamese Grill and Noodle House is hands down some of the best Vietnamese flavors I've ever tasted. Also if I'm not mistaken I think their fake meats and tofu are made fresh in house! I'd eat here is i wasn't vegan!
Pros: Quality, and quantity , Reliable , Alwasy hits the spot
Cons: I don't own the place myself , I'm not vietnamese

Best Vietnamese vegan restaurant ever! - Edit
I’ve had my share of vegetarian Vietnamese food, and this place is unmatched. For the first time I had phở broth that tasted like real phở broth, and it was chock full of veggies, faux meats and tofu products (many of which are made in-house).

Delicious, affordable food! - Edit
Tamarind was a great restaurant that had a large selection of delicious vegan versions of classic Vietnamese dishes. I immensely enjoyed their spring rolls, wontons, and pad Thai. We also ordered a pot of delicious jasmine tea. The portions were large and the prices were good, making it even better!
Read moreMy only wish is that the restaurant and staff were more unashamed that the restaurant is plant-based. After walking in, the host asked if we’ve been here before, and when we said no, he told us “The entire restaurant is vegan, is that ok?” I think it would be a big improvement for the restaurant to be confident in the fact that they’re plant-based rather than shying away in fear of scaring away customers.
Delicious food, great prices, and big portions make this place a great choice
Pros: Big portions, Affordable options, Delicious food

Tamarind Vietnamese is the best vegan food in the entire world!! The food is so incredibly amazing!! The restaurant is family owned and everyone is so friendly and accommodating of allergies (gluten). I’m from out of town and I dream about this food when I haven’t had it for a while. When I’m in Calgary every meal is Tamarind. ❤️❤️

So good! - Edit
I had the Goi Xoai - Mango Salad and the vegetable stir fry. They both tasted so great! The mango salad was so fresh. the mango was not perfectly ripe, but it worked great because it did not overtake the other ingredients' flavours. The stir fry was so nice and had so many different flavours. I am really excited to try more. The staff is o kind.

Vegan Vietnamese Heaven - Edit
Wonderful people, beautiful delicious food, the menu is all vegan. Tamerind has moved to a delightful space with considerably more seating. Enough that a couple would certainly be able to dine comfortably without fear in the current Covid climate.

Taste Like Nowhere Else - Edit
Tamarind is a hard place to pin down. They moved to their current location on 12 Ave SW shortly before the pandemic. Menus and directions online are inconsistent (but accurate here). Like so many of the best things in a city, we heard about Tamarind from friends who have been going for years.
Read moreTamarind's meals are savory, sweet, spicy, and tasty in a way that's difficult to describe. Everything we've eaten here just tastes... extra good? God, I don't want to say "love is the secret ingredient" but holy does it taste like someone has been making these meals for five hundred years and each time is the best time.
I love this place. If you eat food from Tamarind, you will too.
Pros: Taste, Unique options, Speedy preparation
Cons: Difficulty finding current menu online
