Great!

I have been here a few times and never been disappointed. The portion sizes are big, food is super tasty and prices fair. What is not to love about this place. They even have a good selection of cakes.

There's plenty of seating upstairs & down, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend The Eating Gorilla.

We would have loved to have eaten a slice of cake but our stomachs were full, so bought some chocolate cake to take home. It was delicious 😋

Fantastic quality

The food was fresh, tasted incredible, and the portions were very generous. Didn't get a chance to try the bakery items, but we will definitely be coming back for them.

Great value, delicious healthy food

The staff were lovely and there's a great selection of tasty and healthy foods. The juice of the day was good and the cauliflower wings some of the best I've had. Portions are large so I struggled to eat all my Mac n cheese but it was so good. Just finished off our takeaway cakes which were also delicious. Cafe itself is really pleasant and had a nice feeling. We were glad to know it was cash only before we went too. Highly recommend!

Pros: Great choice, Tasty food, Good value

Lovely vegan breakfast

We are very happy to have found this all vegan place during our holidays. We have had a very tasty breakfast: avo toast, sweet waffle as well as savoury waffles. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere nice. I do highly recommend this place.

A-May-Zing!

What a place. So so friendly, they accommodated all of us and our pups. The food and drink was lush and it was generally an all round awesome visit. The menu has a wide range of items and every single thing we had was not just delicious, it was above par. Really can’t recommend this place enough.

Pros: Menu Variety, Friendly staff, Dog friendly

Simply delicious

On our last day of the holiday, my partner and I decided to go out for our last vegan breakfast. The choice was very simple, the eating gorilla had outstanding reviews, and it was close to our location.
I have to admit that we hit the bull's eye.
For breakfast, we ordered breakfast sausage roll, BLT roll, and sweet and savoury waffles. We shared everything. The food was very good but we agreed that the BLT roll was our favourite. Both Zen coffee and Macha latte were delicious.
We also ordered cheesecake, dirty cow cake, and two patties to go. Everything was delicious, especially the patties and the cheesecake.
The place is a bit outdated, but this didn't bothered us much. The service was good.
There is only a cash payment, but don't discourage yourself by that as they give you a PayPal transfer as an option. Also the atm machine is within short distance from the place.

Leckeres Essen, freundliches Personal

Es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Leider wirkte das Restaurant etwas ausgeräubert und kühl...man könnte das Angebot in der Auslage besser präsentieren.

Pros: Freundlich

Fantastic food and cakes

We found the Eating Gorilla on Happy Cow. Popped in after a trip to Bedgelert. We weren’t hungry but my husband ordered the soup and flatbread (which we shared) a cheese cake and cherry Bakewell tart. It was all delicious. We will be back over our two week stay here to try out the menu

Pros: Food, Friendly staff, Atmosphere

Cons: Nothing

THE EATING GORILLA IS BACK!!

This is not a drill! The Eating Gorilla, a beloved vegan cafe by those in North Wales and beyond, has officially reopened as of May 1st 2024. The cafe now has a bold new look, a new Breakfast and Lunch menu, and operates on a cash-only basis.

The food is as amazing as ever, and some exciting new dishes are available in addition to The Eating Gorilla classics, such as their incredible Cauliflower Wings, which can be baked in Smoky BBQ or Spicy Buffalo sauce. Although they are currently running a reduced menu, I still struggled to choose what to have as everything sounded utterly delicious. I particularly had my eye on their Breakfast Banana Split and range of Tortilla Parcels, with the Black Bean and Vegetable Chilli with Rice and Quinoa, especially taking my fancy. So far, I have tried their Mixed Beans on Toast and Nourish Bowl. The beans on toast was a great portion, and the homemade toasted bread was absolutely lovely. The salad bowl was also a good portion and was loaded with a good mix of salads, veggies and seeds, making the dish incredibly tasty as well as extremely nutritious! The Eating Gorilla also offers a Smoothie, Freshly Pressed Juice and Milkshake of the day and I, a die-hard smoothie lover, thoroughly enjoyed the Apple, Raspberry, Mango and Blueberry Smoothie of The Day. I also took several baked goods away, and everything was superb. Their Cheezecakes are still amazing, and I was thrilled to see Homemade Jaffa Squares available as I had previously really enjoyed the jaffa cake-style treats they used to make. I noticed, too, that they offer Salad Bowls and Ham Salad Rolls to take away in the same fridge, which is handy for the days when you fancy something quick, healthy and, of course, tasty!

I am SO thrilled The Eating Gorilla is back open, and I am really excited to see what the future holds for this exceptional establishment. I highly encourage vegans near and far to pay this place a visit to enjoy and support a fully vegan business! 🌱🦍

PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE REMOVED MY PREVIOUS REVIEW OF THE EATING GORILLA TO REPLACE IT WITH THIS NEW ONE AS THEY HAVE NOW REOPENED. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURES OF MY FORMER REVIEW FROM BEFORE THEY SHUT ONTO THIS POST IN ADDITION TO PICTURES FROM SINCE THEY HAVE REOPENED.

Unreal level of amazing!

I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough. Do not go to this area without a visit! Even if you can only fit in some cauliflower wings and some corn wings, they will be the best you’ve ever had. The kebab was divine too and we’ve been eagerly counting the days until we can go back for dinner!! Going on Friday and Saturday this week haha! The people are also so lovely.

Pros: Best food ever, Reasonable prices, Full vegan menu

Great place!

I visited twice in April when staying nearby. The staff were lovely & there was a good choice & I had two tasty meals. The main meal portions are big! There are lovely cakes too.

I was able to take away a few items too, such as a delicious cheesecake, a vegan pancake mix, vegan chocolate and a small bottle of Dirty Cow, which was great.

I'm happy to eat "fake meat" but for those who aren't they may find their choice a bit more limited.

Pros: Lovely venue, Friendly staff, Tasty food

Apprehensive....

We were a little apprehensive about this one. It looked too good to be true from the reviews and the menu didn't particularly catch our eyes at first glance.

We walked in and were greeted with a smile. Our food and drinks came quickly and were delicious. I even managed to get an ice cold, alcohol free IPA which was a godsend on this 28c day.

The cafe was bustling and we enjoyed looking at the up to date vegan cook books. Kudos for two gender neutral toilets too.

We had alcohol free IPA, iced hot chocolate and cream, fish finger tacos, naanwhich and corn ribs. I loved the tikka spiced chicken and the ribs were the best I've ever had. (Well done on getting flavour to stick to those bad boys.)

Took away a carrot cake and a bannoffe tart type thing and ate them on the road. (Sorry no pictures.) Just mouthwateringly moreish.

Excellent little lunch spot with attentive staff and well deserving of a five star review.

We'll be back!

Pros: Gender neutral toilets , Good variety on the menu, Flavour packed dishes

Cons: Too much raw red onion in the salad, Taco needed a spicy sauce dressing , I didn't have room for pudding 😂

Amazing vegan food in an unexpected place

We have had some trouble finding vegan places in Wales, but the Eating Gorilla made it all better. They have a nice varied menu, with some lovely traditional dishes. Staff is really nice, take their time for you. Portions were good and food very flavourful. Sell some really nice pastries and deserts as well. A must-visit if you are -even remotely- in the area. Do not be fooled by the simple interior.

Pros: Hidden gem, Great options, Good portions, very reasonably priced

Incredible!

Lovely little cafe in a small town. The food was cooked with care and tasted amazing! The cauliflower wings in particular were out of this world (would travel again just to eat them!)

Edit: We went back and the food was still incredible! One of our highlights (other than the cauli wings) was the parm fries. Also the fresh cream scone!

Fabulous place! 100% vegan and dog friendly too.

Fabulous cafe/restaurant for vegans and omnivores. More than lived up to our expectations- so many different options, portions are huge, food full of flavour and prepared with so much passion and care. You wouldn’t know it’s vegan. It was lovely to see some top rated ethical suppliers they work with too - denzel, karma cola, Drop bear beer etc. Highly recommend. Oh and don’t forget the cakes - cheezcake was to die for! 😋

Pros: Food prepared with so much love and passion , Dogs are welcome and loved , Fabulous, relaxed, friendly atmosphere
