Great food. Not so great service. - Edit
Visited when last on holiday in the area and was super excited to try one of the only vegan eateries in the area. Lot of options naturally and between my wife and I we got a good selection of dishes. Really nice flavour combinations so good job there.
Read moreExperience was let down purely by service. The place wasn’t that busy - front was about half full, and we were seated in the rear. We then got… forgotten about. Did go to hunt someone down and they said they’d be along to take our order and when they finally showed up (showing another couple to a table in the same area) they then immediately took their order, walked off and returned a few mins later to take ours. Food arrived quite quickly for that other table and ours was a while longer.
Huge deal in scheme of things? No. But.. when you work in a service industry, doesn’t hurt to serve people in order or forget customers are sat in the back!
Pros: Fully vegan so loads of options, Food tastes great, Prices are ok
Cons: Service

Never disappointed - Edit
I've had takeaway lunch and meals in at the Eating Gorilla and all have been excellent. Tasty food and good portions. Staff very friendly. They prefer to be paid by cash but will accept cards. I live an hours drive away and make an effort to go as much as I can.

Cute cafe stop - Edit
We stopped in here after a visit to Portmeirion and were not disappointed. We especially loved the cauliflower wings and the colourful chai lattes. The place was packed when we visited so we were lucky to get a table. Lovely to see a vegan business thriving in such a small village

100% Vegan & Dog Friendly - Perfect! - Edit
We don't live locally unfortunately but we always call in to The Eating Gorilla when we're in Wales. We've had most of the items on the menu but they do change frequently so it's always worth going back to see what's new. The food is always delicious, service is fast and friendly and all the staff are very helpful. And, it's dog friendly. Our dog is a bit of a barker (at other dogs) so we try and pick quiet times and we're always made to feel welcome.
Read moreI've also bought t-shirts, hats, soaps and snacks from here and I always take away at least two cakes to eat later. We were staying in Wales for Christmas so I ordered the stuffed roast turkey-style joint and a beefless Wellington. Both really good!
Highly recommended.
Pros: 100% vegan, Dog friendly, Friendly and knowledgeable staff and owners
Cons: Not near enough for us to visit every day!

Great vegan eating place, with a lovely people and a relaxed atmosphere - Edit
Last week on holiday in North Wales, near to the Eating Gorilla, we visited every day, for our main meal. All the food was lovely and very tasty (tacos, Southern fried ch*ckn, Italian tofu etc) and the vegan f*sh and chips, with Bakewell tart and custard to follow on the Friday, was definitely the icing on the cake-vegan of course. All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the cafe has a range of other goods for sale, including interesting books (Tim Bailey's Livestock's longer Shadow-excellent) Thanks a million all of you, and see you again asap!

The Eating Gorilla - Edit
I enjoyed my experience at EG but think I might not have ordered the right items. The reason I didn’t give five stars is because I didn’t care for the Greek salad as well as the bread and butter that came with it. I’m not sure which butter they were using, but it would’ve been better if they served the bread with Naturli butter (which they were selling in their cooler). Finally, the thing I did not like the most was the vegan Greek cheese.
Read moreI did get the cauliflower appetizer and really enjoyed it.
An unusual thing I saw here was vegan Kit Kat‘s. I have never seen these offered anywhere so it was exciting to try them (although they are a bit sweet).

Vegan or not you should try this place - Edit
Love coming here whether it's for a healthy salad or full cooked breakfast. Usually end up leaving with a variety of different treats they have to offer on the day. Their wings are the best! Even had compliments from meat eating friends visiting here. Just wish was open more.

Head there hungry! - Edit
Lovely airy cafe incongruously located in a small village between Barmouth and Porthmadog. We arrived by train, which is just down the road from the cafe.
Read moreArriving early, we had coffees and a waffle. I'm really pleased we were there for the breakfast menu! The waffle was perfect and the balance of flavours of the toppings worked well.
We returned for lunch. I ordered the seitan "wings" and my partner had the burger. The portions were plentiful and neither of us left hungry - we had to have cake to take-away! The drinks - a juice and a smoothie - went well with the meal.
One thing we noticed here was the speed of service. Most vegan cafes and eateries we've visited have been fairly slow to bring out the food. We'd got our drinks and meals inside 20 minutes here. Impressive.
It's worth booking to reserve a table. We arrived at 12. By the time we left just after 1, the entire place was full with people still coming in.
There's also a table with various essentials like soaps and small pots of veg1. Useful if you find yourself caught short on holiday.
Pros: All vegan , Big portions , Varied food from buddha bowls to burgers
Cons: Remote location , It gets busy so need to book ahead

Best place to eat out! - Edit
Saw this cafe on the happy cow app and was also recommended it whilst in Vegonia (wholefoods) in Porthmadog. So far we (family of 5) have been twice. Even though one of us extremely fussy, they were able to cater for her, which is always helpful. The staff are hardworking and helpful. The cafe is a lovely atmosphere and space. The food is by far the best we have had here. We are hoping to see you again when we come back to visit the area! We are going to also try to cram in a breakfast before we leave....

That home made Ranch dip tho - Edit
The wings were fabulous, the best we've had actually - we were also offered the half and half as opposed to choosing either the BBQ or Spicy Buffalo sauce. Both flavours were fab, and it came with a bit of side salad and their fantastic ranch dip, so good.
Read moreThe Filler burger was ridiculous in size, too tall! The buns are not ideal for burgers, too hard/ crunchy and the onion rings should just be on the side. The patty was the Beyond Burger patties and although it was cooked nicely, I would have went for something else as I've had that patty many a times. Overall the burger was hard to eat and it became messy as you have to deconstruct it - it came on a chopping board instead of a plate which enhanced the messiness.
The chips were fabulous though, loved the crispiness and the shape of them.
The Not dog was alright, too much bread, the sausage was ok but the toppings were the highlight of the dish along with the chips.
Both dishes came with coleslaw, it was alright.
We had a hot sauce dip too, it could be spicier!
The strawberry milkshake was great, loved the presentation, the doughnut is more of a dense cake and not overly sweet which is fab. Tasted great, if you like strawberry, you'll like this, the milkshake is sweeter than the doughnut.
Lovely restaurant, loved seeing the stuffed top gorillas, very cute.
The guy who took our orders is such a gentlemen, shout out to him.
Pros: Great Menu
