Very limited vegan options

Stopped in as I was in the area. They had a hummus wrap and no other vegan options

Too pricey

I only had a Latte with Oat milk and it was really delicious but not overwhelming. Vegan milk alternatives cost 250Ft plus. The size of the coffee was really disappointing compared to other cafés.

Okay

The food tastes good, nothing too special though - the café is way too expensive in my opinion though

5 star (can't because not 100% vagan)

Love this place! We stayed for hours and felt home. The owner puts his heart in everything. Good strong coffee and lovely food, many vegan options as well. If your feeling lost or have a question this is your place to go. Also if you just feel like having a nice cup of coffee ☕

Cosy + friendly staff, but nothing was vegan

Visited here in spring 2018 and asked for vegan options, and at that time they had nothing vegan except for coffee (perhaps they run out?). The staff was very friendly though. We sat there drinking coffee for a long while anyway due to the cosy atmosphere.

Pros: Staff

Cons: At the time, no options except for drinks

Nice

This is a lovely place to stop by during the day and have your morning coffee or breakfast. The hummus wrap is so good that I had to make myself the same recipe at home the next day, since I left Budapest.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice vibe

Cons: I was turned off by the sight of the prosciutto

Great coffee but not so family friendly

The coffee indeed is incredible and special but my boyfriend had a very unpleasent experience with our baby there. He was putting on a _clean_ diaper for our daughter when the owners ran out of the kitchen southing and screaming what the hell are you doing. We had done it a few times before and it wasn't a problem so he got really shocked of such an approach. Sure we understand hygienic aspect (though the baby and the diaper were both completely clean) but its about how you express yourself, you can also say politely. So, its a shame to leave such a great place but no going back anymore and wouldn't recommend for others either if you've got babies :(

Pros: Excellent coffee

Cons: Unfriendly attitude

I think this review is slightly untrue. We have a lot of customers with babies and children and we welcome them all. Your boyfriend was changing your baby's nappy openly at the table, he didn't have a changing mat or any wet wipes, so he carried her into the toilet where he washed her in the sink (without closing the door) - leaving the used nappy on the table. This is a food establishment and we care greatly about the hygiene, cleanliness and customer experience. We spoke to your boyfriend about the issue, he apologised and sat down to drink a coffee. He didn't seem at all upset and was quite understanding. I am sorry if you feel wronged in any way, this was not our intention - but we have to stand up for the cleanliness of the café - and for the enjoyment and best interests of all of our other customers.

Your friend in need

The best place to get breakfast in Budapest. The owners are really friendly and charming, and sometimes you might even see a pup.

Pros: Great hours - opens early

An oasis of healthy vegetarian food and coffee

The Goat Herder is a beautifully designed espresso bar in District VII, with friendly people and a cool atmosphere. Owned and managed by an English couple - one of which is a vegetarian - they have many veggie options, including:

- Delicious daily soups freshly made each day (with lots of Thai and Indian flavours).
- A selection of toasted wraps, including: a) brie, walnut and apple, b) homemade hummus, grated carrot, black olives and cucumber, c) roasted mediterranean vegetables with sundried tomatoes and feta. All wraps have homemade pesto and ruccola inside.
- Salads with homemade dressings
- Bircher muesli and fresh fruit
- Homemade cakes and cookies

They have a selection of gluten-free cakes each week too!

The staff all have a full understanding of vegetarianism and veganism. Food can be customised for vegans (wraps made without pesto/feta etc). Without any customisation, their vegan options include:

- Vegetable dippers (homemade hummus with carrot and celery dippers)
- Salads
- Cold soups if they're available (gazpacho or pea and mint)
- Fruit salad

In addition to the food, speciality single origin coffee is a big hit - some of the best in Budapest! They use farm fresh milk, plus have soya milk and lactose free milk.

The owners really care about quality and ethics. All eggs are organic (bio) and their milk, butter and yoghurt is from a local farm. Their take away packaging is made from either vegetable starch (compostable and biodegradable) or from recycled paper / sustainable forests. Some customers bring in plastic containers for their take aways, which is really good.

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!
