All-Day Greek Spot in Monastiraki Square with Vegan Souvlaki

When in search for lunch, we stopped in The Greco's Project right off Monastiraki Square. The place had a great crowd for a Monday lunch and service was very fast and able to handle dietary restrictions.

For appetizers, I ordered the cretan-style dolmades (or stuffed grape leaves). I can confirm there was no meat and the waiter confirmed no dairy used in my order. My wife got the fried feta - which was wrapped in pastry dough with honey and sesame and is a great vegetarian appetizer.

For my main, I got the handmade grilled mushroom souvlaki which featured a house-made red pepper sauce. It was vegan as is and extremely tasty. The mushroom had a stronger BBQ flavor than most souvlaki I had in the area and the pepper sauce really set it apart. Overall, it was a great meal. The price was probably a premium for being a more touristy location.

Pros: Dedicated Vegetarian Menu Section, Meat-Free Dolmades, Quick Service

Cons: Very Crowded, Expensive Because of Location, No Vegan Labeling on Menu
