Yum! - Edit
Just got done with a 5k and stopped by after! Very friendly staff and we got seated right away— went at around 9:30 though 😅 crowds stared to pick up around 10:30.
Read moreEverything was very tasty! And the hot chocolate was the best I’d ever had!!!
My cousin (meat eater) wasn’t a super fan of the cheese steak— he wished there were more onions and cheese.

awesome vegan brunch albeit limited indoor seating - Edit
I had great expectations about The Tasty for it was named the number one vegan diner in America in the recent Veg News Best of 2024 issue. On a recent trip to Philly I stayed a short walk from The Tasty.
Read moreWhen I went here to refuel post-yoga practice a little past half past 12pm on a Sunday afternoon had mixed emotions for the restaurant was packed so was happy so many folks were enjoying all vegan cuisine and also bummed because there was no indoor dining since they closed at 2pm. I had no alternative, but to take whatever vegan delight I ordered to go. I ordered the deluxe breakfast burrito aka tofu scramble vegan cheddar tempeh bacon jalapeno and red onion all topped with vegan sour cream and spicy vegan mayo.
It came with a side of home fries. I found the service friendly and prompt. Happy that this all vegan diner was popular. I took a walk home to enjoy it and it was very tasty. 5 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service yet am deducting a star due to not being able to dine in which I love to do when dining out and experience the ambience. The only caveat is the restaurant is small and not much dining. Pro tip- Sundays are the busiest day here so if you want to dine in go on an off day aka Wed or Thurs or get there early on Sat or Sun otherwise you will be left getting take out like me.
So I went back here with a friend. We had brunch together and were able to dine in. Excellent friendly welcoming service by Parker. All staff were on point. Ambience here is wonderful. It is small so get here early to dine in. I love the creativity of art in the diner. I had the Tempeh Deluxe Reuben with a side of Caesar Salad. Both were tasty and nourishing. My friend had the deluxe burrito that I previously had and French Toast that I tried and enjoyed. All in all we both loved our meals. Five stars if you can arrive early and land a table in the limited indoor seating. I pursued the baked goods that looked quite alright. A must try if in Philly!
Pros: awesome vibe, amazing brunch, friendly staff
Cons: limited indoor seating

Awesome vibe, yummy food - Edit
There were no tables available when we got there in the afternoon so we ordered takeout. We split a Philly cheesesteak and a kale salad. Both were delicious but would have liked more cheese on the cheesesteak. I can't wait to try the breakfast there and actually sit down at a table, as the atmosphere is so cozy and sweet.

Best omelette breakfast!! - Edit
We just introduced our son to the tasty. We were in Philly for a birthday party The night before. The vegan options were OK, but just a bunch of vegetables. So we woke up, really, really hungry. My son can eat as much as two people. We went to The Tasty and he got the spinach and sausage omelette. He was absolutely full. He loved it and we all thought the omelette was flavorful and moist and puffy. Absolutely love this place!

Great ‘old school’ diner in a regular neighborhood. Really enjoyed what we ate, the French toast and the dirty jersey. And a latte. Great people who own it as well, very welcoming. Thanks!

Delicious, my favorite! - Edit
Honestly my favorite place to eat out in Philly! Great food, great vibes, great service!
Read more6/4/23: We ordered the Greek tofu scramble (spinach, tomato, tofu) which was very flavorful and tasty (get it?)! It also came with a side of home fries or tator tots or waffle fries. We also ordered the weekend special tres leches tropical pancakes (pinapple, mango, banana, strawberry, and cantaloupe, with coconut cream and maple syrup), which was outstanding! Definitely will return!
Space is somewhat small; we came on Sunday morning and waited 20m for a table. We paid $34.83 for our meal plus coffee, minus tip.
Edited review 1/7/24: we have since returned ~5 times and brought friends with us. Their blueberry pancakes are super delicious as well. Be sure to pay a bit extra for the real maple syrup and coconut cream! Tater tots and waffle fries are so good! We also got a special on 12/16/23, the Home on the range Biscuit Pie (filled with tofu scramble) with a brown gravy. It was good but we liked the regular tofu scramble a lot more!
Vibes are great and quirky, staff is friendly, service is good. Bought a diner mug from their little shop and it's currently my favorite mug 😍

They’re so creative. I can’t believe the omelette. I’m always skeptical of vegan cheeses and breakfasts but they nailed the whole breakfast. The tempeh bacon and the chicken waffles were also great. Everyone’s friendly and it’s a relaxed atmosphere. They’re super helpful and will explain how they make the food and what’s in it when you ask.

I've been here so many times and it never disappoints! They have my favorite biscuits and gravy (three different varieties to choose from) and incredible pancakes and waffles. Their lunch food is great too, like their chicken parm sandwich, but I go here for breakfast.

Blandest vegan food I’ve had - Edit
Cute atmosphere, great coffee drinks, but ordered three different breakfast entrees and was definitely disappointed. Tofu scramble and tots were bland, which isn’t great sign when that’s the base of your dishes. I’m not picky whatsoever: this is the first vegan restaurant I’ve been to of probably 30 that I didn’t like, and it didn’t come close to living up to the hype it gets.

wanted to love it, missed the mark for me - Edit
i wanted to love it to support an authentic local vegan place and my experience fell a bit short:(i got the omelette and i found it to be a fairly bland flavor and it didn’t taste like an omelette or an omelette replacement at all, so it just wasn’t what i expected it to be. i would definitely go back to try other things on the menu though
