Makes me very happy - Edit
Simple cafe with excellent vegan food and welcoming staff. I have the masala dosa, which is very tasty and filling, with a mango lassi, which makes me very happy. All reasonably priced. Love that they have an ethical approach and do charity work too.

A delicious selection of authentic Indian cuisine. The menu is small but varied. Dahl was beautiful. The coriander chutney to die for … all vegan and service with a smile.

Amazing family-run Indian canteen - Edit
Based in the YMCA near the British Library, Thenga is a haven for a casual and delicious lunch. The options rotate: simple but perfect home cooked food. It never disappoints! There’s a vegan mango lassie (which is a rare find) and you can hang out there for hours. The staff are super friendly and remember repeat visitors.

You get a fantastic welcome and a menu that is full of wonderful options. I picked the roti, an energiser, and a masala tea.

Wholesome, quality food in a microcosm of tranquility - Edit
A wholesome little cafeteria-style eatery with tasty, affordable Indian offerings nestled in the heart of King's Cross.
Read moreFood was fresh and well made, though a bit lacking in spice for what I've come to expect from Indian cuisine (I'm sure I could've asked for it though!). I had the roti wrap, and also ordered three pakoras and a samosa, which came to an amazing value of £21 (along with a coffee and a can of Coke). Great affordable vegan food, especially for Kings Cross! I would've liked if the pakoras were warmed up, but I really can't complain much there.
Service was quick and the owner was so very friendly and greeted me with a huge smile. The atmosphere felt like a cross between an Indian school cafeteria and a yoga studio, and was a quiet reprieve from the crowds before catching the Eurostar.
I love to see that vegan offerings in London aren't limited to just super chic and expensive restaurants (though they have a place in my heart too!). Thenga was a wholesome place and I'm happy to support the independent vegan scene!
Pros: Food, Peace and quiet, Price

Great surprise - Edit
I was psyched to find this adorable place near King’s Cross station! The location was a bit odd- inside a YMCA but that had no negative impact on the food. I got the lunch plate which was a big portion and very reasonably priced (esp for London). Everything was super flavorful and the people working at Thenga were so friendly. I’d definitely come back!

Sweet little cafe serving dosas, wraps, samosas etc. All freshly made, basic choices but tasty. Smoothies excellent- I had the Healthy Heart - beetroot/ginger/apple. Plenty of seats with bench-type tables, books available to browse and friendly staff. Prices fair

The food was fresh and flavorful and I had the best Samosa of my life here. They use cilantro quite a lot though so as someone who cannot stand the taste of cilantro, I regretted not asking about it before ordering!

My favourite kind of place - Edit
What a great find! Love everything about it - simple place, calm and welcoming in between hectic traveling, modest number of menu items but all really delicious and reasonably priced. Fantastic juice. Staff so very friendly and warm. On our recent visit we ate takeaway lunch in the park while waiting for a train then went back to buy another meal to take with us and eat for supper when we got home late after two days of travel. Perfect.
