Great all you can eat buffet brunch - Edit
I thought the all-you-can-eat buffet brunch had gone out of fashion due to covid, but in some places it continues to thrive - including Tisch in Vienna. Their brunch includes one hot drink, one "egg" dish, and unlimited buffet access.
Read moreThe egg options during our visit were: omelette a la Bear, eggs Benedict, ham and eggs (scramble), and a cheese plate. The omelette is a veganised version of the famous one Sydney makes in The Bear, and we both ordered this as it seemed too good an opportunity to turn down. And it was absolutely delicious! I would guess it was made with some kind of liquid egg replacer rather than tofu, because it was unlike any vegan omelette I've had before and it had a good eggy taste and texture. The mushrooms were nicely fried and the cheeses (cream cheese and parmesan) were good. The vegetable crisps on top maintained a nice crunch and are convenient for the kitchen, but I'm sure regular potatoes would have been better! This is the smallest of quibbles for a properly sensational dish though.
The buffet had plenty to offer too. There were some breakfasty bits, including granola (nutty and seedy, with a choice of oat or soy milk) and bread and butter (margarine was also available, but I can't resist a good vegan butter).
There were lots of exciting savoury dishes. The standout was a pumpkin lasagna, which fortunately was not one of those terrible ones that replaces the pasta with a vegetable: it had pasta, along with a pumpkin layer which added a nice bit of bite. There was also some mince and a cheesy top. We both loved it.
There were also oysters! Really they were just nicely dressed mushrooms. The dressing was quite sharp, which worked for me but less so for my partner, and we were both excited to have the opportunity to shuck an oyster for the first time in our lives.
Other savoury dishes included a polenta cutlet, goulash, and carpaccio, all of which were tasty and enjoyable.
There was also a decent selection of sweets, including a milchrahm strudel, carrot cake, and apple crumble, alongside some custard.
Dishes were replenished quickly. We arrived at 11am and the staff were replacing platters of food as necessary. We certainly felt like we were getting our money's worth.
Brunch is only served once a month, and we were just lucky that it coincided with our visit. Booking is definitely recommended, it was totally full when we were there.

Tastiest meat alternative I have eaten - Edit
When we went there was a lovely strawberry and blue cheese salad on the menu, which was simply divine. The cheese dumpling soup was very good too. The dumpling was an absolute flavour explosion. The only downside was that there was just one...For our mains we had the Korean-Japanese-Austrian fusion dish and the Schnitzel. The fusion dish was very nice with a good variety of textures and flavours that really complimented each other. But it is was the Schnitzel and potato salad which stole the show. I think the Schnitzel was easily the best I have ever had. It was so soft and crispy I didn't want it to end.Tisch is easily the best vegan restaurant we have been to in a while. Good portion sizes, tasty food, a lovely team and it supports female Austrian winemakers. What is not to like?

Great restaurant for nice occasions - Edit
I go here regularly with my partner, and I think it's a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions. The food is excellent, as are the desserts. They have great drinks too. It's a little pricey, but somewhat normal for a nice restaurant in Vienna. I'd really recommend this place to anyone looking for a really nice vegan meal.

Our best vegan meal in Europe - Edit
Our visit to Tisch was exceptional in many ways. Most impressive is their ethos of sharing. They suggest that if you have extra funds to share, to do so. And if you are a bit short, you will be covered. ❤️ The food is ethically sourced, sustainable, and absolutely delicious. There were four of us, and we tried eight dishes. The standouts, to me, were the dumpling soup - seriously - where is the cookbook?, the spare ribs, the bourguignon, and the schnitzel. All were just so yummy. The restaurant was at capacity for the single person running the whole thing! They calmly took all the orders, cooked and delivered all the food and drinks, checked on the diners, settled the bills, and did the dishes. One person! I won’t soon forget our visit to Tisch!

Great local style vegan food - Edit
We had a really great meal here, the staff were friendly and welcoming and I highly recommend for your visit to Vienna. I always like to try a local dish when away and the Vegan Wien Schnitzel didn't disappoint. They were happy to modify it for my travel companion and swap the Austrian mash for chips.

We had the 6-course menu. Every course was wonderful, for me especially the main course, dessert and the cheese platter. You see and taste that they put high effort and love into their finely prepared dishes. Meal sizes are more than sufficient, prices are fair.

Martini-Gansl Fest-Essen in Tisch 72€
Read moreEach course is described in the attatched picture. Everything was almost 10/10, not kidding. Their homemade brioche bread is to die for, I actually bought half a loaf on request for 8€ a month later. The candle is "butter".
I had to salt the soup a little, but I prefer my food rather salty. The staff was really nice. I had an amazing time, but you get soo full!!

amazing food, subpar service - Edit
I contemplated a lot on how to rate Tisch, the food is good and creative so I want to love it. The experience we had was a mess though, I hope that it was a rare bad day.
Read moreWe were there twice, once around 5pm with few people there. We were served quickly and our waitress explained everything well. We booked a table for the next day at a later time, when we arrived it was filled to the brim and as another staff member was sick, only one waitress was responsible for the whole restaurant. We waited 15min to be seated even though the table we ended up at had been empty and we could have sat down immediately. It then took ages for us to be able to order and even longer till we received our drinks and meals. A total of one and a half hours from the time we arrived until we actually received the first dishes. Other customers also seemed to have waited a long time before us, and some of the dishes weren't available even though they just released the new autumn menu. The waitress that day was visibly overwhelmed, the cook had to jump in to help serve and they had to close an hour late. Though I had lots of empathy for her having to deal with a busy evening all by herself, it just shouldn't be the case that if one staff member falls sick the entire organisation crumbles.
The food though: my omnivore company was amazed. The meat substitute in the Umami 2.0 dish and Ossobuco was indistinguishable from real meat in their opinion. I also found it to be of very good consistency and juicy too. Both dishes were very fitting for autumn and winter, I'm not a big fan of saffron nor risotto so the Ossobuco wasn't my thing that much but I had to try it for the king oyster mushroom edible bone, and it was worth it! Soooo delicious. We also had the charcuterie board and cheese platter. The cheeses were very good but they're created by another shop so you could buy them yourself. The charcuterie board on the other hand is worth it. The soy meat didn't amaze me but I loved the carrot lax and beetroot carpaccio! It was accompanied by two great dips. I also had their black forest cake. It tasted more like a regular chocolat cake with a bit of cream and very few cherries, not bad but not my dream perfect black forest cake.
What I really loved were the drinks, the alcohol free cherry rosmary sour is expensive but amazing, and the hot green tea white chocolate was SO delicious.
I would love to try more dishes but the overall experience has tainted my enjoyment a bit.

Leckeres Wiener Schnitzel - Edit
Ich wollte gerne ein traditionelles Wiener Schnitzel in Wien essen, ohne dabei tierische Produkte zu mir zu nehmen. Die Schnitzel und der Kartoffelsalat waren toll, würde ich jederzeit weiter empfehlen.

SO GOOD 😃😃😃😃😃 - Edit
We had two of the oysters, the spaghetti carbonara, and the ribs, plus the spicy gin and tonic, an Averna sour, and for dessert vienetta style parfait and a scoop of coconut ice cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was all DELICIOUS, but probably the nicest thing about our meal was our waitress Annie! We really enjoyed talking to her, just a lovely intelligent human. I hope we can come back to this vegan restaurant again before we leave Vienna in a few days.

Good food and a nice vibe - Edit
I made a reservation for dinner on a Sunday evening. At the time, the restaurant was not very busy.
Read moreThe staff is kind and friendly.
I ordered the slow roasted spare ribs with fries and the chocolate lasagna.
The chocolate lasagna was delicious. The spare ribs were fine. I ordered them based on the reviews, but the overall taste in texture was not my favorite, which is a personal taste. The fries were good.
I would definitely go again and try something else on the menu.
