So much more than words can transmit

One of the ultimate stand out vegan places I’ve ever been to in my life. The three of us had their famous £22 Sunday Roast extravaganza each selecting a different meat (roast chicken, lamb and turkey). You are also provided with a Yorkshire Pudding then it’s self-service vegetables and all the usual trimmings such as sauces, stuffing and lashings of gravy. I had a bit of everything, piled my plate high then proceeded to devour the whole feast with a pint of their delicious Posh Lager overlooking Petticoat Lane Market. Not a bad way to spend an early Sunday afternoon before hitting The Oval for some T20 cricket action.

Pros: Amazing food , Wonderful staff , Ethical interior

Excellent Sunday Roast

The roast was an eat as much as you want buffet. You have one main food item (eg a vegetable wellington) plus a Yorkshire pudding and then add your sides. There was a very good choice (cauliflower cheese, carrots, parsnips, peas and greens, sprouts, stuffing etc) There were sauces and gravy. You can only have more sides. We were too full to have any more!
The food was delicious (although we did find the potatoes were too salty).

Pros: Selection of sides , Fully vegan , Good selection of drinks

Good food, but unimpressed with the service

As a long time vegan family we love trying new places and we travelled from Yorkshire, looking forward to a visit. The food was good, even the garnishes, some lovely combinations, all very tasty and well done. But the service really let the experience down for us and we had read all of the reviews saying the staff are great. I really want to give five stars to all vegan businesses, truly, but there was no chat or welcome at all, we felt weirdly judged as though we were non vegans, tables of four were crammed onto smaller tables while couples took up booths in the windows that could have seated 8. We watched the table next to us who arrived five minutes after us have their order taken first, water for the table took 20 minutes to arrive and one of our party had their food come out 10 mins after everyone else, and even those plates had been sat under the heat lamps for 5 mins at that point anyway. The server did apologise several times for the delays, but sadly for us it was a very lacklustre £100 spent, including an undeserved service charge, but at least some of it is going to Surge. We won't be returning.

Pros: Food

Cons: Service, Toilets poorly maintained and smelly

Fancy but pricey

During my brief visit to London, Unity Diner was one of the "must-haves" on my bucket list, so I visited for the Sunday carvery.

Unfortunately, the "braised beef" was a totally wrong choice for me; it was just cheap textured soy protein with not even much flavour. Luckily, I can see this option has gone off the menu now! The trimmings were ok, and as usual, you can have them in unlimited amounts.

Staff were attentive, there is a lot of seating, and the place has a fancy vibe. I can easily imagine a date, a business lunch or a family event there.

On the financial side, it's pretty pricey and apart from the 12.5 % service fee, a 50pence "sanctuary optional donation" was also added to my bill. Which I do not mind paying at all, but it's strange to call it "optional" when I've not been informed about it beforehand.

Yummy comfort food

Really delicious food, with so many options! Highly recommend the mushrooms skewers, Mac and cheese and the salted Caramel cake. Lava Lavish Kebab was also pretty tasty. We tried the 3d printed salmon, it was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again, interesting concept, it's just not really salmon like in it's texture as it's not flakey. The creme brulee was mid, it's simple but again lacks the right texture. Service is simple, it's a very casual place with a qr code for a menu. Definitely want to go back and try the sunday roast and fish and chips

Outstanding Roast!

Possibly the best vegan roast I have ever had. I went with the braised lamb, Yorkshire pudding, and all the trimmings. So much flavour in everything and extremely satisfying. This was followed by sharing the salted caramel cake, which is delish! I cannot wait to come back to London just to come to Unity Diner.

10/10 Sunday roast

After seeing so much on instagram about unity diner, we had to go for Sunday lunch during our visit to London.
Oh my god, it was devine.
The veg choice was amazing (no plain boring boiled veg) and the cracking was amazing. We had the chicken and lamb. The lamb was good but the chicken was amazing.
If you are wondering whether to give this place a try, don’t hesitate, book a table. You will not be disappointed.

4.5* - Very Good

Very pleasant spot with excellent choices, even if the menu isn’t massive. Just a shame you’ll be paying >£20 for a burger and chips but that’s London I guess!

Great: fast food with a healthy twist.

The menu has developed over the years. They still have the fast food theme and some of the classics (tofish is legendary and must be tried). There’s a healthier twist to some of their dishes (octopus on a pumpkin puree).

It was a busy lively place on our Friday night visit

Go-to for really indulgent food

Any vegan in London has to go and try Unity Diner at least once (you’ll wanna come back anyway).
Lots of guilty pleasures and so so good. Some of our favorites are their hot dog and Unity Döner but there’s also a ton we haven’t tried yet during our many visits.
The absolute highlight for me personally though is always the dessert. The menu changes frequently and whenever I thought I’ve had the best dessert ever they surprise me with a new creation.

Super friendly staff too and part of your bill goes towards an animal sanctuary. It can’t get any better. 💚

Cool space, fresh food

Great atmosphere and wide ranging menu. Got the calamari chips, Caesar salad, and a scoop of the soft serve ice cream, which was honestly the stand out. Good quality and good portions, but wasn't personally blown away the way other reviews were. Pretty on par with other decent vegan restaurants I've been to, but definitely worth checking out.

Will Not Disappoint!

I was excited to finally try Unity Diner, and
I can happily say it lived up to the hype! Judging by other reviews it can get busy, but we were lucky to get there at a quiet time in the afternoon when only a handful of other people were there.

The staff who were working were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and made sure we were well looked after during our stay.

The establishment itself is beautifully decorated with artworks on the walls, and there is merchandise available to purchase, with proceeds going to Surge Sanctuary. It is obvious that equally as much care has gone into creating a rather extensive menu, featuring many English favourites. They also cater to everyone - plenty of gluten-free options and non-alcoholic drinks. I've had my sights set on the Tofish & Chips for a long time and it was even better than I'd hoped for. I would say that meals were fairly priced; the large plates are a bit more expensive, but they come in rather large portions.

Definitely give Unity Diner a go if in London, you won't be disappointed!

Pros: Sustainable, non-proft, Super lovely staff, Wheelchair accessible

Will come back again!

I got the garlic greens and the steak and chips with peppercorn sauce, and a vegan propaganda. I also tried some of Purp's chimichurri new potatoes, pan seared cod fillet, chunky fries with garlic aioli, and whiskey sour.

The garlic greens were delicious. Very garlicky, and I could have happily eaten more.

I was a little bit disappointed with the steak. The texture was good, but it just tasted salty to me. Steak was my favourite food before going vegan so I had very high hopes, but unfortunately I was a little let down. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was hoping for. I also wasn't into the peas, they were tough and I felt that they didn't go with the rest of the meal. The chips and peppercorn sauce were delicious though and I was stuffed after it.

The vegan propaganda was nice and tangy, although the smell and taste reminded me a little of a new car. (Edit: after seeing the receipt I realise that this is because I was actually served the version with alcohol which is Vegan Propaganda 2.0. I don't drink alcohol often as I find the taste overpowering so a lot of alcohol tastes like window cleaner to me, hence the "new car" taste that I mention above.)

The chimichurri new potatoes were very nice and tasted exactly as I expected.

The pan seared cod was amazing! Crispy and fishy, if I get to come back I will get that for my main meal. However, Purp didn't find it to be very filling, which is why they also ordered chips and garlic aioli. The garlic aioli was amazing! I could have drank it! It was incredibly garlicky without being spicy or overpowering, I wish I could buy a jar of it!

The whisky sour was nice. I don't drink much alcohol as I find the taste of it overpowering, but the whisky taste in this was nicely hidden. I would definitely order one of these myself if I came here again.

My main complaint is that the menu is accessed by scanning a QR code, however when I scanned it, it didn't work for me. Luckily it worked for Purp so I was able to look at theirs. I'm not sure if they have physical menus available, I didn't see any.

Overall it was very nice, a bit expensive but that's to be expected. I would definitely recommend it!

Unity diner, you wowed me. This is FAR beyond the usual vegan roast that you can get these days.
This place is also going above and beyond when it comes to vegan activism and making it easy to be a vegan 🌱 💚

My personal highlight were the pigs in blankets, the vegan Yorkshire, the leek gratin and the cauliflower cheese as they are usually so hard to find and it all taste excellent.

Yum dinner

I wanted to try their Sunday carvery/ Xmas carvery but ended up going on a regular evening and had a very tasty dinner of Tofish coujons, chips, peas and sauce. YUM. My mate had the soy free hot dog and loved hers too. We both had our eye on the sticky toffee pud was way way too full sadly! Next time!
