SO GOOD - Edit
Heard many a time that UVK is great. Finally went because it was close by (23rd St CE station). Oh my goodness! Absolutely fantastic. The vibes are immaculate, with excellent music, decor and staff. I think the best chick’n and waffles in the city. Delicious loaded broccoli. The orange juice based mocktail with cinnamon was also divine. And what a treat to have a non alcoholic espresso martini!

THE BEST VEGAN COMFORT FOOD IN WEST VILLAGE! - Edit
In a nutshell: Satisfying Vegan comfort food with very amiable service and colorful drinks!
Read moreTHE GOOD
You always can find a seat, I've come at different times and even large group's always can find room. You can place the order yourself by scanning the menu, adding your credit/debit card, and picking from the menu. I've grown accustomed to that in some restaurants but, unless you have questions, the interaction with your server will be minimal which might or not be a plus for you. I will say my waiter tonight has always come with a smile and enthusiasm and even if we haven't chatted as much, I appreciate it even more. On my way in and back to the bathroom, the staff is always very courteous and always with a smile, a real one, not like in other places.
THE BEST
Try the mac and cheese, I had the salmon last time and the flavor and texture were on point. In a blind taste, I would challenge anyone to try this "cheese" dish and find out it's actually plant-based. The drinks... Perhaps was tonight's bartender but the drinks (The first, I ordered with Patron, and the second one with Don Julio) were kind of the weaker side, if I were you skip the cocktails and order wine or beer (Haven't had those myself but I reckon its a safer bet since bypasses the bartender) but by no means bad, just average you know? The ambiance is quite relaxed, very mixed crowd, it is a place not so much to immerse yourself but to socialize with friends or on a date, the music playlist is a take-it-or-leave-it situation. If you want Vegan comfort food that actually tastes like your good home-cooked well-seasoned ones, come here and treat yourself. LEAVE YOUR BELT AT HOME
Pros: Location, Flavors, Nice ambiance
Cons: Impersonal ordering

Lots of options and variety. I tried a bowl to get a sample of things but regretted not getting the chick’un and waffles. The Korean wings have nice flavor. Definitely want to go back and try some different items. The BLT with avocado is a nice summer sandwich too!

It wasn't busy when I went. You have to do the QR order thing, don't love that. Despite ordering via an app I still got the wrong drink. Food was actually good, so not that bad.

Best vegan chick’n waffles and quesadilla - Edit
Fluffy waffles! The dirty green quesadilla was also mind bendingly delicious. The shiitake bacon was little crumbles but tasty too.

Something for Everyone! - Edit
The selections on the menu will surely have something for everyone. I enjoyed their Belgian Waffle which was fluffy and covered in fresh fruit and maple syrup. So yummy! My husband, who had already eaten elsewhere, enjoyed a beer. He said it was amazing!
Read moreSome other menu items I considered and were recommended by the wait staff were the Buffalo Wings, Mac N' Cheese with shitake mushrooms added as a topper, and the Mississippi Mud Pie.
I'll be back!
Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Do note that on weekdays they open at 12 PM. Although they serve breakfast all day, this could throw a hiccup in your plans if you arrive at 10 AM.
Pros: Great selection of ALL VEGAN options, Breakfast ALL DAY! , Excellent & friendly service

5* for the combination of food and originality. - Edit
Menu is American comfort food; it’s very well done. I had the seitan steaks for starter and chilly for the main course. The place has existed for 8 years and isn’t just a restaurant, they’re trying to create a community and spread the message. Decor is interesting - it has a grungy feel.

$2 extra for syrup - Edit
This was me and my fiancés first time here. I want to start off by saying that the food here was amazing and exceeded our expectations. Only problem we had was that when we asked for extra syrup the server that knew it was our first time didn’t inform us that the syrup was an $2 extra charge for only half the dipping cup that it came in. It came with 1 syrup for both of our waffles as you can see in the pic but when we asked for 1 extra side of syrup we were charged $2 without knowing for such a small amount. I had never been charged extra for syrup before. It wasn’t until after we were done eating we realized that it was charged onto the bill(we had to order ourselves and pay through a website) We just paid and left shocked by the fact that it was $2 for so little syrup and we weren’t even informed about it.

Delicious breakfast sandwich - Edit
The atmosphere and aura of this place attracts the most amazing and like minded people that you will enjoy conversing with. The breakfast sandwich was perfect and the Korean wings!! Holy smokes they are a must try! If you like Korean BBQ then these won’t disappoint. They are made out of seitan, but they totally fooled me. They were moist and delicious..

All Vegan Spot - Edit
I walked in and remembered that I had been here once before. Friendly service. I started with Korean BBQ Wings. Nice portion size and good distinct flavor. Worth repeating. Moved onto their Magic Ring Burger. I appreciate that it was house made. Distinct flavor. Good portion size. Onion ring on burger was crunchy. I had mine with a side of fries - they serve shoestring fries. Good meal. I also ordered their black and blue pie. Good flavor. Disappointed in presentation and portion size. The picture they show on menu is very different from what they actually serve. I regretted ordering it as soon as I saw it. Overall, after my second visit here, o have the same feelings … good food that comes with a NUC price tag.

This place is good vibes all around. The food is pretty good. My last visit I had the “shrimp” it was pretty tasty. My friend had the chili cheese fries. I tried them. They were decent. The tahini chocolate chip cookie was divine though.

If you are looking for bar food, this is the place to go. The Korean BBQ wings are really good. The Mac and cheese was just okay. The tofu scramble was good and flavorful. The experience was enjoyable but the food was as expected for bar food.

Good but nothing amazing - Edit
We wanted to eat there to have typical American food (burger, Mac & cheese etc). The Mac and cheese didn’t disappoint (could have eat more though), UVK burger tasty but looked a bit “tired”, same for the French fries. Buffalo cauliflowers well seasoned but could bit slightly more cooked.
Read moreThe staff was friendly but we had to wait a lot for our beers, ask for napkins several times before getting any and waited way too long for the pie (the restaurant was not packed) that come a bit overpriced for a small slice that was common.
Lot of options on the menu.
Overall nice to know but wouldn’t come back during our stay.
Pros: All vegan, Typical western/American food, Nice neighborhood
Cons: Slow service (but friendly), Blueberry pie 12$ for 2 bites, Burger bun too soft

Great meat substitutes, cheese was unreal. You order and pay online from the table which is convenient for groups but does mean that food comes at different times, which can be a little awks. Good choice of alcoholic beverages. Staff were super nice and welcoming. Would go again.

Nah, now. - Edit
Read moreI really wanted to love this place because the reviews were great, it’s black owned, in a super cute area and has an awesome vibe. Unfortunately it gets 2 out of 5 stars from me.
The good: the music and the service were both a 10. It’s such a great vibe and the service was pretty damn great.
The bad: everything else…literally. The Korean vings had really great flavor but the texture was more like pork belly. I had to use my knife to cut it apart because the fork alone wasn’t it. It was chewy and thick and did not feel good in my mouth. The sauce it came with was also very tasty. I ended up eating them because the entree I ordered was also bad 😫
I was curious about the mushroom asada and that curiosity was not satisfied, lol. It came with brown rice and beans, both of which didn’t have much flavor. There were more onions than actual mushrooms and I ate the mushrooms I did find, a few bites of rice, and left the rest. And ya’ll I’m a big girl so I DO NOT waste food but today…I did *sad feet*
The ugly: To top it off, the wings took a lot longer thank expected and the hibiscus sangria was weak. I’m so disappointed. Maybe I came in the wrong day.
I take full responsibility though because I definitely hesitated and second guessed coming here before I decided to do so anyway. But you live, you learn, and you share your story to help the next unassuming soul.
I would like to note that they did offer me something else but it was 0/3 at this point and I wasn’t interested in anything so I declined.
Pros: Music , Service , Vibe
Cons: Food , Drinks
