Heard many a time that UVK is great. Finally went because it was close by (23rd St CE station). Oh my goodness! Absolutely fantastic. The vibes are immaculate, with excellent music, decor and staff. I think the best chick’n and waffles in the city. Delicious loaded broccoli. The orange juice based mocktail with cinnamon was also divine. And what a treat to have a non alcoholic espresso martini!

Had the Chick-un & Waffles with a side of shiitake bacon. Delicious! Like that everything is vegan and there a lots of choices including breakfast items which are not that numerous in the vegan spots around city.

I was so happy to find a vegan soul food place because whenever I’m in the south, I’m disappointed because southern food is just not vegan at all. It’s great that there’s a place we can enjoy it. I was happy to see that it’s black-owned and woman-owned. This place was so small, yet so intimate. The food was scrumptious, and everyone working there seemed so happy to be there — whether it be the amazing bartender or waitress or hostess. The bathroom was cute with vegan art/wisdom written all over the walls. My dad, an omnivore who is willing to eat vegan but always goes with the safe options, definitely approved. he got the buffalo cauliflower (which was A on texture but somewhat lacking in buffalo flavor) and the tofuego. he also got a white russian. I got a chorizo mozzarella empanada with the avocado verde salsa, and it was absolutely to die for. It was so crispy and flaky on the outside with impeccable flavors on the inside. I think I also got some cheesy bread, which didn’t disappoint.

A kid you not I think I spent almost $20 on three buffalo wings here. More seriously I love everything I’ve had here but they are charging outrageous prices for what they give you. The food is so good though.

The place was clean and had a very relaxed vibe and great music; the staff was super friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommend everyone to try it.

Ok spot. French toast was pretty good. Has some things on the menu I liked and some that were not so great. Worth a stop. Didn't have the best experience with the staff. You definitely don't get the warmth there that you do at some vegan restaurants. Would only go back if people I'm with wanted to try it out.

Read moreThe Korean wings were the best version of seitan I’ve had… although it didn’t really feel like I was eating wings. It was more just square shaped pieces of seitan with sauce. However, it was super tasty. The fries are shoestring fries pretty good. I’d skip the mocktail next time.
Overall this meal was tasty but quite expensive. $40 for “wings,” fries a nonalcoholic beverage is too much. Since it’s located in the West Village perhaps it’s the location you’re paying for.
Also, their ordering system is confusing unnecessary. You have to order through their service which is accessed by scanning a barcode at the table. The service charges you a service fee (making your meal even more expensive) and doesn’t allow you to order additional things unless you keep your “tab open” which requires you to enter your cc number create an account. It’s really a mess and takes a way from the dine experience.

Came here after walking around all day and had an excellent meal. I had the Tofuego sandwich with fries which was excellent. Has a great atmosphere as well. Black culture represented in a vegan restaurant isn't very common and is great to see.

The restaurant is much cooler (hip hop playing, and lots of animal- and music-themed art) than the boring name suggests. Scan the QR code on the table to see the menu and order online. I ordered the chickpea tuna with fries. The sandwich didn't taste very fishy, but it was good.

ALL OF IT. I don't normally go for vegan comfort food but I can say that I was happily satisfied. I also got a side of French fries and felt they were a bit too salty but they were solid.
The menu is big so I'll def try to come back at some point and try some of the other offerings

I had dinner with here with non vegan girlfriends. They enjoyed the coctails and everyone was able to find something from the menu that they liked. Service was very friendly. Downstairs dining room was very loud and we had hard time hearing each other. But it’s a cool space. I had broccoli and two tacos and felt they were healthy but there are a lot of non-healthy options in the menu and I had a hard time finding what to order. You can all make your own order on the website and ooen and close your own tab which made paying and ordering easy. I’ve ordered delivery from them before and food was good, I think eating at the restaurant is a better experience.
