Van Leeuwen is a NYC local chain with almost half of the options vegan. I like that these are mostly creamy ice creams with bold flavours and not only fruity sorbets. I visited them in three different locations and enjoyed the ice cream equally good in all of them. Also, they stay open till late night. As to the downsides, the price is quite high and the availability of the flavours - they sell out quickly.

Best peanut butter ice cream - Edit
Ice cream is my weakness. I was on vacation so decided to splurge. Got a cone with a peanut butter ice cream that was perfect. My daughter got a pint of the same type and said it was the best she ever had!

I want to cry it's my first Vegan sundae...it's as close to a Sundae I have ever had since being a vegan. They don't have hot fudge but still it's terrific. They also have Wi-Fi and a bathroom. Staff so nice and helpful. I want to eat less so kind staffer suggested a mini vegan sundae!

Really nice spot with plenty of table space. Offers plenty of vegan flavors both for here and to go as well as vegan baked goods, vegan sundae options, and vegan shakes. Only bummer is that it is a bit pricey and they vegan flavors incur an extra charge.

Absolutely delicious vegan ice cream. They had about 7 options along with vegan whipped cream and hot fudge. The girl at the counter was very friendly. They also have a few vegan pastry options in the morning and afternoon. The vegan cookie was amazing. Also, their espresso is absolutely incredible.

Van Leeuwen has great vegan ice cream (nut-based), however, the ice cream is expensive! And like the previous review noted there is an upcharge on the vegan ice creams. There are typically at least 4 flavors of vegan ice cream available with at least the same number of non-vegan ice creams. I've loved all the flavors I've tried. Depending on location the price will vary with the Greenpoint store & the truck having the best price and this location with the highest prices (1 scoop = $5.50 & 2 scoops = $7.50 at this location vs. small-2 scoops = $6 at other locations).

Van Leeuwen is an ice cream parlor with several locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and an ice cream truck! They have vegan flavors. All of their vegan ice creams are made with nuts. They have many flavors with milk, and several vegan versions of the same flavors. I recently had an awesome cone with a scoop of dark chocolate and a scoop of pistachio. This establishment, however, charges $0.50 extra for vegan. My two scoop cone was $6.00. Yum!
