Incredible vegan ice cream - Edit
I was bummed when I didn't get to try Van Leeuwen in LA, so I had it on both trips to NYC. It is INCREDIBLE vegan ice cream. It is so creamy, sweet, and delicious. They had a few different vegan flavors and vegan cones. It was a bit expensive, but honestly, it was so good that I was okay with the price.

What I like best about Van Leeuwen is that the vegan ice cream is not an afterthought add-on, but an intrinsic part of their menu, with many vegan offerings. I have found the ice cream here to be always good.

Van Leeuwen is a NYC local chain with almost half of the options vegan. I like that these are mostly creamy ice creams with bold flavours and not only fruity sorbets. I visited them in three different locations and enjoyed the ice cream equally good in all of them. Also, they stay open till late night. As to the downsides, the price is quite high and the availability of the flavours - they sell out quickly.

I tried 3 flavors- brown sugar crunch, strawberry shortcake and peanut butter chocolate chip. The PB/CC was the tastiest followed by the strawberry. The Brown sugar
Crunch tastes too sugary.
Most of the vegan ice Cream Is made with Coconut, but it’s not clear whether the base is coconut or not.

I’ll caveat this by saying I'm not a huge ice cream person. We had just finished dinner nearby and were jonesing for some vegan dessert. Found this place and decided to try it based on the glowing reviews. Ordered two flavors and found them to be too heavy; I prefer something cleaner. I do like that they're cash-free though!

This is the best vegan ice cream I have ever had. Actually best ice cream period! I take everyone here when they come to NYC. I have personally only had the vegan flavors. I would say salted caramel is my favorite, but I have not tasted one that was bad! The flavor is very rich and creamy but not too sweet, I have never had non-dairy ice cream this creamy or rich.

I love Van Leeuwen Vegan Ice cream, this was the third location I went to. Compare to the one in UWS and the new one in UES, this one is big. It has tables to sit, it is good for groups. As in other Van Leeuwen locations, they don't accept cash which makes the service faster. Believe me, they get busy. My obsession now is Vanilla almond chip with vegan whipped cream I can't get enough😄I took one star off because my boyfriend ordered peanut butter chocolate chip and he got also Vanilla almond chip instead. We realized that when we got outside, and it didn't make sense to go back, and as I mentioned already Vanilla almond chip rocks! :-)

They have many divine vegan flavors. Just be advised: there’s a vegan menu and a non-vegan menu, and some of the ice cream names are the same. So be sure to specify vegan. Really nice staff. Does not take cash.

I always buy the pints from Whole Foods and have been to other locations. This is a really cute spot. I tried the vegan dark matter in a sundae when visiting this one. The salted caramel flavor as well... both absolutely amazing. The best scooped ice cream EVER!!

I had the most incredible ice cream sundae of my life here. The ice cream is so smooth and creamy, the flavours are innovative and delicious and there's loads of choice. Even the whipped "cream" on my sundae was to die for! Never had vegan ice cream like this, worth travelling to if there's not one near you.

Van Leeuwen is an ice cream parlor with several locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and an ice cream truck! They have vegan flavors. All of their vegan ice creams are made with nuts. They have many flavors with milk, and several vegan versions of the same flavors. I recently had an awesome cone with a scoop of dark chocolate and a scoop of pistachio. This establishment, however, charges $0.50 extra for vegan. My two scoop cone was $6.00. Yum!
