Vegan Heaven - Edit
What can I say, I visit the Bay Area several times a year from the UK and a visit to Veggie Grill is always on my todo list. It's so great to be able to order anything on the menu and know it's all vegan. While it's not high-end food, it's good quality, super tasty and always hits the spot. I basically eat there as much as I can and have never been disappointed. It just all ends too quickly and I want to try everything.
Read morePros: The whole menu is vegan!, The range of options covers all tastes., It's easy to get a table.
Cons: You can only eat so much before you explode

Really Good Food, but Crazy Expensive and Zero Parking - Edit
I ordered takeout from here the other day and got a Steakhouse Burger and some deep-fried cauliflower. They were both excellent. The burger was a Beyond Meat burger and it was quite big. The crispy fries were not crispy whatsoever, but were still excellent with that real potato taste with the skin still on it. The deep-fried cauliflower was awesome. Quite a big portion, good breading, and the orange dipping sauce was perfect.
Read moreHowever, I had to deduct a star because, at over $13 for a burger, it might be the most expensive burger of any kind that I have seen in a long time, especially outside of fancier restaurants. Considering you could very well make your own for about $2, it's pretty excessive. The fried cauliflower was much better value with a good size and reasonable price.
Do not bother going here unless you are prepared to walk a bit, know a clever place to park, or don't mind paying for parking. It is absolutely slammed in that area. If you are from out of town, I would highly suggest parking a bit away, maybe at Westfield Valley Fair Mall. But even there it is difficult to park. Also, it's in a trendy, yuppy little area (Santana Row) that is always very busy and very crowded. If you're just picking up takeout, you could probably get away with parking at the little lot at Eurohaus at Tatum and Winchester for a few minutes, but it's up to you if you wanna risk the ticket.
Pros: Good quality, 100% vegan menu, Variety of options
Cons: Very expensive +, Inconvenient location, = Santana Row

Don’t get the fried “chicken” - Edit
The soul food plate was really not very good. Didn’t look like the photo (breading was totally different) and the flavors of each food was very bland. I’ve had quite a bit of vegan soul food in Virginia and this pales in comparison. I will def. give this place another chance though.

If you like fast food style food this is the animal cruelty free version!
Read moreThey have all the burgers, salads, bowls and appetizers you can imagine, and also a seasonal menu!
I usually get their BLT sandwich and a cookie. Their cookies are awesome and fresh.
They have reusable plates and cutlery, so they are environmentally friendly in this aspect!
Plenty of free parking in the nearby multilevel parking.
Pros: 100% vegan, parking right in the back

Great selection of vegan fast food - Edit
Very delicious all-vegan comfort food including wraps, burgers, buffalo “wings”, bowls, salads and desserts. I’ve visited multiple times during my holiday and I was always very satisfied and left with a full tummy. I can highly recommend the buffalo mini wrap.

Love this place - Edit
Here’s my only gripe about the Veggie Grill: there’s not one near me.
Read moreSo I was in San Jose for a few days for work. I ate here twice a day. I love this place. It is not quite fast food, but it is definitely on the more casual quick service. They serve a ton of comfort foods. Real American foods. And everything there is vegan, so you don’t even have to care when you read the menu. I like vegan Thai as much as the next guy, but sometimes it is so nice to get a vegan burger, or vegan chicken sandwich, or even a vegan crab cake.
This one is in Santana Row, across the street from the Winchester Mystery House. Santana Row is a trendy upscale shopping area. I like it because it is not a mall, it is outdoors walking. And it’s designed to be pedestrian friendly, and you can tell there are apartments and lofts above the stores.
Now if only Elk Grove had all of this.
Pros: Entirely vegan, Tastes good, Comfort food
Cons: Not near me

My weekly goto for food getaways. - Edit
So, this is probably the best place I always go to. Even though I only get the same one or two items. Nachos and (vegan fish tacos) it is something is a must. Even new vegans who go there enjoy it.
Read moreI also love the abundance of drinks such as wine, beer, and other fresh juices. It is a super quiet place with friendly people the vibe is lively and feels clean. Although, I do enjoy the burgers and other items from time to time. It's actually amazing how fast it is growing as well.
Pros: Awesome food choices, Clean and lively, Friendly talkative staff
Cons: Menu changes often (probably due to seasons), Can get incredibly packed at certain times.

My favorite vegan restaurant in California - Edit
The Veggie Grill is the best vegan fast food I've ever had. The buffalo wings burger, sweet potato fries, mac n cheese and chocolate cookie are amazing. It's perfect if you just want a quick meal or sit and chat with friends. There's outdoor seating as well, which I'd normally choose during the day.

Delicious & Gluten Free Menu! - Edit
I loved finding this place! It's all vegan options, with great portion sizes. The sweet potato GF fries and sauce were amazing, and because the burger buns aren't gluten free they have a kale option which was surprisingly delicious and I would order again. I wanted to order 15 things they all looked incredible. Can't wait to come back this week!

I really enjoyed finding this place. First, they have organic beer (most of vegan places don't even sell beer), then the cheeseburger (with vegan cheese) is awesome and the buffalo tempeh stripes are so good that we asked for a 2nd order

Okay, I think about Veggie Grill way more than I should admit. I dream about their mac and cheese, crispy cauliflower, and buffalo wrap. I just love this place. I never thought I would like the meat alternatives but somehow Veggie Grill does it justice. It's a great place to take non-vegans, my brother couldn't tell his Santa Fe Chicken wasn't real meat, I guess this is a good thing?! Also, I love their chocolate pudding. You get points from your purchases and can redeem for food, so great! The staff is really friendly as well. Their green tea is the best!

Consistently great - Edit
I've been to several locations in Southern California, but this was my first time at a location in a different region. Upon entering, I wouldn't know the difference. The décor, service and food are all consistently great at all locations I have been to. I arrived for an early lunch, so it was still fairly empty, but by the time I left, the place was hopping which I was pleased to see. I ordered an old favorite, the All American Stack sandwich, with Yukon fries and it hit the spot as always. I hope they continue to expand and bring vegan comfort food everywhere.

Everything is delicious. Love the Mac-n-cheese. Staff is always top notch. Worse I can say is the drink selection is a bit sparse. Oh...the warm cookie covered in chocolate goodness is a must try (if you still have room for dessert). My carnivore friends love the food.

Awesome!! - Edit
How great, as a vegan, to be able to go into a restaurant and order anything on the menu. On top of that, the food is excellent. It gets even better because the desserts are fabulous. We have gone a number of times and never been disappointed. You order at the counter then get a number and they bring you your food. They are very quick. Cauli-mashed potatoes are so good. Gravy is wonderful. Burgers, chickn-style, the sauces, ..all is really good. A number of people recommend the Buffalo Wings. Although we enjoyed them, we prefer the Chill Out Wings. Uptown Nachos are really good, too. They have fabulous teas and lemonade. Then...dessert. Wow. So delicious. Probably the best pudding II have ever tasted. So far, we have only tried the Chocolate Pudding Parfait. We are so full from the delicious meal. We split the Parfait. It was so good. I look forward to trying other desserts on future visits. They also have choices for on a children's menu. Just be aware, my daughter loves spicy food. She tried the chipotle ranch dressing on her salad. Although she liked it, her face turned red on her first bite because it was hotter than she expected. She still recommends it, just be aware it has quite a zip. We HIGHLY recommend Veggie Grill!

Best casual vegan restaurant anywhere! - Edit
I LOVE Veggie Grill! Whenever I visited family in southern California I'd make them drive me into LA / Hollywood to have the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich and the All Hail Kale salad. I was distraught that VG didn't have a location in San Francisco or Sonoma County. When I recently moved to south Bay, the fact that there was a Veggie Grill in San Jose actually influenced my choice of where to move to. I ended up choosing an apartment that's less than 5 miles from the San Jose location!
Read moreThe food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. The only downside of this location is that it's in Santana Row, which is an upscale outdoor mall that's always crowded. There are both underground and above ground parking structures, but every time I've tried to park in one of them I've had to drive around for 15-20 minutes waiting for someone to pull out of a spot. Very frustrating. But once I'm able to actually get to Veggie Grill I'm happy again, because it's SO GOOD!
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly Staff
Cons: Hard to park
