Vegan options limited

Other reviews made it look like there were loads of vegan cakes, only 2 options sadly

Some Superb Treats

I was very much stuck for what to order from here as there was so many things, I had to temper myself somewhat. Of the (many) items I did purchase, I was particularly impressed with the hazelnut truffle that tasted exactly like a kinder bueno. Also, both the cookies that I got were superb. The macaroon was passable, as was the chocolate ganache cake, but the brownie was a touch disappointing as it was quite dry. I would be more than happy to go back here though as it was overall a good experience and very reasonably priced.

Potential for improvement

VEGO is lovely located with a view of the pond. I liked the interior, there were leaflets promoting plant-based lifestyle, the service was friendly and spotless.
But the food I got was underwhelming. The marble muffin was quite nice, but other than that everything else tasted like it sat there for quite some time. My best guess is that they don’t sell that much (since firstly, vegan confectionery is still a niche and secondly, there are other good options around) and that’s why their cakes and whatnot becomes old and tastes bland after few days. I’m really wondering how freshly made items taste at VEGO’s.
It’s a likeable concept, but that’s not enough. And that’s why I can’t give more than three stars, because that would be simply misleading.

Few vegan desserts, below average

Was really excited to try their desserts as they have a big display. Sad to say it did not live up to my expectations.

Cinnamon roll: 1/5 - was too hard to bite. Felt it was frozen and thawed then heated again.

Rose & pistachio cake: 3/5 - ok but wouldn't order again.

Nougat cake: 3.5/5 - better than the rest of the items.

I've seen they usually have a red velvet cake so I'd want to try it if I was in the area.

They also had a few vegetarian savory items displayed, didn't check for what's vegan as they seemed quiet stale.

Pros: Multiple vegan desserts

I tried the red velvet today.
I would give it 2,5/5.
Actually struggling to finish it; half of it is still in the fridge.
In case you try it too one day, feel free to leave a comment - I’m anxious to know other people’s opinion on this.

To be honest, coming to think of it, I wouldn't bother trying them again. I've had much better vegan desserts from other places.
