Favorite place to eat in all of Philadelphia - Edit
I lived near Philadelphia for four years, and even though Vientiane Cafe isn't a vegan or vegetarian restaurant, Vientiane was my favorite restaurant to eat at. It all boils down to one thing. King Soup - the most delicious soup I've ever eaten. It's apparently a traditional Laos wedding soup (Ka Poon) filled with all sorts of animal parts, but they make a vegan version that's to DIE for. It's a red curry based broth with noodles and tofu and all sorts of herbs and crunch vegetables. Make sure to ask for crispy tofu and lots of extra lime, and enjoy!

Vientiane is such a treat. Very accommodating to vegans. You must try the naam salad. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever had.

so they make vegan stuff but what i really like and find is rare, is that when you ask them to make your tofu extra crispy they actually make it extra crispy. i don't like soft tofu i like it fried. the crazy pinnacle is my favorite and while it always tastes different its always good. the curries also rock.

vientiene totally rules. if an appetizer doesn't have meat in it, you should order it. other than that, i'm obsessed with their pad see ew and this thing with rice noodles and gravy - i think it is called lad na.

This is a small, quaint place in an area with plenty of free street parking (does it get any better than that?). I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with tofu as an entree and had the veggie spring rolls as an appetizer. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. The staff were friendly, too. However, the one thing that I would change would be that I would love it if they accepted credit cards. Fortunately, there is an ATM about 3 stores down from them.

Superb Laotian and Thai Food! Excellent service! - Edit
This family-owned, extremely accomodating veg-friendly restaurant is a treasure. Sunny, who along with her family owns the establishment, is courteous (she offered to refrigerate some perishables I had with me while I ate), friendly and knowledgeable The food itself was fresh and served very quickly. The summer rolls and tofu coconut soup are particularly good. A terrific experience I recommend others try as well (btw - street parking, no meters).
