Amazing spot! - Edit
Came here for lunch and it's a great place, amazing location by the river which is very relaxing, and the inside of the cafe is very clean bright and welcoming.
Read moreThey have a good variety of vegan options and label everything that is vegan or can be made vegan.
I got the Waterside Burger which changes every day/week (?) and this day it was butternut squash and millet burger which sounds weird but it was delicious! It was inside a wholemeal bun and came with a sweet potato wedge, hummus and three salads (cucumber, bulgar wheat and red onion/apple all delicious!)
My meal was £10 which was great value as the meal was very big and tasty and filled me right up. I didn't get a cake but there were a few vegan ones (not all though).
Overall this was great and I'll come again next time I'm in Kendal!
Pros: Great location, delicious food, good value
Cons: Not everything is vegan

Lovely café - Edit
Had a great breakfast here with my vegan daughter. Staff very friendly, they couldn't do enough for us. Great location and views over the river. Restaurant itself is very relaxing with a sofa seating area. Food was very tasty with lots of vegan options.

Fabulous - Edit
I can't praise this place high enough; if I lived nearer it would be my second home. Just fabulous to find a place that's not only veggie/vegan but also does it really well. Everything - food, staff and atmosphere were perfect - thank you Waterside we will be back

Bigger and better - Edit
Waterside in Kendal has reopened three times the size, spick and span with a gorgeous children's play area. (It seemed clear that a lot of non-vegetarian parents are dropping in for this reason!) The staff are now helpful and friendly. Vegan options are marked and there are also GF options, though the kitchen is not segregated. The dessert options were limited when I visited (ice cream, sorbet or chia pudding) but there were several vegan cakes, though the bean cheesecake was, alas, a little too directional for me as it tasted of, well, beans. Sadly the fancy coffee and hot chocolate options (chai latte, cream on top, Flake etc) were not available for vegans, at least not on the day I visited. The stuffed mushrooms with vegan parmesan were hot and tasty. At £4 for a smoothie it was quite expensive, but good. I would rate it four and a half stars; I am giving five because I want the improvement to continue!

Cons: Quite dear, no fancy vegan hot chocolate
