Excellent - Edit
I tried the cabbage bun and the radish cakes and both were excellent! The gentleman spoke English, so it made it easier to communicate. Definitely give them a try if you’re in Tainan.

Oily but very delicious! - Edit
Make sure to find your way to this nice little stand. I tried both bao (liked the one with bamboo shots a little bit more but the other one was excellent as well). Based on a recommendation by the owner also tried the salt and pepper pancake which was even more delicious than the buns. As a plus it was really nice to see them make these buns and pancakes while eating. It is somewhat oily but it makes for a perfect snack. The buns were 16 TWD a piece and the pancake about 35 TWD

Ridiculously delicious and super affordable - Edit
This is a drool worthy snack stall that serves fried fare. The cabbage fried buns are mind blowing, but the bamboo shoot ones are also good. The radish cakes are thick cut and freshly fried, and the pepper pies are gigantic.

Oh so good - Edit
I love this little stand. It’s the easternmost one of a series of little stalls on the southeast corner of Chenggong Rd and Hai-An St, but it’s the only vegan one. (The rest sell animal flesh.) I was only expecting to find pan-fried buns (NT$15 each) here, but the salt & pepper pancakes (NT$30) and tofu wraps (NT$35) piqued my interest, too! I tried a crispy bamboo shoot-filled pan-fried bun, which was solid. The pancakes have a thin filling of soy meat, shredded carrots, and an unidentified green vegetable. The tofu wraps are like large, pan-fried dumplings filled with mung bean vermicelli, veggies, and tofu.
Read moreBecause everything is pan-fried, everything is just a little bit too great for my taste, but they do set their freshly fried items on several layers of paper towels to absorb some of the grease before serving them. They are also into saving the planet by going vegan! I’m so glad I went out of my way to try this place on my last day in Tainan!
Pros: affordable, flavorful, all vegan
Cons: only open afternoons, a little too greasy
