Great vegan sushi options - Edit
There's always a debate about best sushi in Asheville, and Zen is always part of that conversation. As far as vegan options go, this is one of the few restaurants I really trust to get it right; I've never had an issue getting takeout here even during peak times. The veggie tempura, seaweed salad, edamame, and veggie gyoza are among my favorite apps, and then tofu fried rice is my go-to non-sushi main. As far as sushi goes, they have an entire section of the menu for veggie rolls, and all can be modified to be vegan if necessary (some have eel sauce on top, clearly noted). My favorite roll is the tempeh roll, but can't go wrong with the Avocado/Asparagus/Cucumber (gluten free!) or inari tofu roll.
Read moreYes it's in a strip mall, but it's also a sneaky nice spot to dine in (done this a couple times); the staff is top-notch and clearly care about everyone. There's a reason they've been around for as long as they have, and why I've come here far too many times to count!

Love this spot for dine-in or take-out. The food quality is so consistent and dishes are easy to customize, especially through the website’s online ordering. You’ll see there’s a checkbox for “vegan” when ordering. Many vegetarian rolls can be made vegan if they are not already (some have cream cheese, which the menu makes very clear). Love the tofu veggie noodle and rice options, too!
