That goes for pretty much all Asian food. They use fish paste, oyster sauce, anchovies, etc., as if it were salt. A lot of the time staff in Asian restaurants don't speak much English and just say yes to anything you ask. I guess it depends how strict you are. All I can say is that I don't like the smell or taste of anything fishy, and the veggie ramen here doesn't taste or smell fishy. Hot tip: Asians like to put egg in everything, so it's worth asking not to get a boiled egg in your XYZ dish. Same for crab cakes and other things that they like to put on everything.
