For the price the plate needs more presentation. The waitstaff needs to be more knowledgeable about the foods they are serving. I did like the jackfruit carnitas. The parking lot was filling up with customers by the time we were leaving so it shows that there is an interest in vegan food so kudos to anyone desiring to monopolize on that, I just hope they make some improvements.

Tonight me and several of my friends went to Bean Vegan Cuisine, a few people tried to split the cost off appetizers (which we have done before there). The waitress said it was possible and but we were told later by the owner I think he is? That it was not possible so they (the ones splitting the appetizers) just decided to put them all on one check.

One of our friends went to talk to him and the other seven of us sat there and continued eating, didn't even hear the conversation our friend was having with the owner. After she talked to him she seemed frustrated but then had to leave to start driving back home.

So later the waitress came and passed out checks, we all put our cards in and all that and the waitress came and took them.
Next thing we know the owner comes over to our table and says that we didn't pay for the appetizers... and then my card was the one inside that check thing. I told him that was my card this man started being horribly rude to us all. He was basically accusing us of playing around and switching up everyone's checks and cards which is like why would anyone do that?

Literally the most awful way I've ever seen anyone deal with a situation in my life. He was telling us that our friend that talked to him earlier was difficult and that "whatever you guys are trying to do here is ridiculous". He then kept going on and on saying things that were definitely not okay to say to customers, especially when the rest is us there didn't do anything wrong AT ALL.

Someone then told him we wouldn't be coming back and he said "that's fine with me you can take your business somewhere else".
Never in my entire life have I ever been treated like that by someone who is supposed to be in charge. I'm not sure what exactly our friend said to him in the one on one conversation but whatever it was that is absolutely no excuse to take it out and be angry and rude to the rest of us like he was.

It's really sad because I know people who work there and have worked there, and to them I'm so sorry you have or had to work for such an incredibly mean spirited human. You would think running a vegan place you would have some sort of compassion.

So yeah, won't be going back to Bean. That being said Zizi's Awesome Vegan 2 Go in university is where it's at so if you want yummy vegan food that is run by someone who does not have the temperament of a seven year old.

It is sad that a vegan place has this much unfriendly staff working. I don't expect someone to be too friendly but at least don't be snippy while serving paying customers. Food is amazing and that is the only good point about this place. This restaurant has very gloomy atmosphere and that was during the day. I guess no one washes windows. If I get back it would be just for great food taste otherwise I would try to avoid since it is too expensive for such service.

My family eats a mostly vegan diet, so we were excited to try Bean in Charlotte. They brought us a sample of bbq jackfruit, because we had never tried it. It was like sprinkling salt on my tongue-too much! We ordered the crabby dip, quesadilla, 2 cheese steaks, seitan cheese burger, bbq tofu finger sandwich, and another burger (the one with fried onions on it). 4 out of 6 said they would definitely NOT order the same meal again. The tofu finger sandwich and the burger with fried onions were fine. But the seitan "bacon" and cheese steak "meat" were way too salty, and my daughter said the quesadilla was not good but she ate it to be polite. Vegan food can be so much more! I would be embarrassed to take a meat eating friend here for them to try vegan food.

No happy there was hair in my tofu, and Mac and cheese was nasty, I don’t mind the price as long as the food is finger licking good
