Good Japanese lunch - Edit
The restaurant has a cosy and nice interior, and the food was very tasty. Would especially recommend the ginger ale, as it is made of self made syrup from organic ginger. 1700 yen is on the pricy side for a lunch set, but in my opinion the food was worth it.

Tasty, but not really worth it - Edit
At ¥1700 for a lunch set, it's on the pricy side, and aside from a couple foreign tourists, the clientele reflected that this place is sorta upscale. The lunch set was good, but not amazing. The main dish the day we went was a sweet and sour tofu, which was actually really delicious, but there was so little of it. IMO although the food was pretty tasty, it wasn't worth the price, especially given the portions. If you don't mind that it's a little pricy for a lunch, then it's worth a try.

Lovely! - Edit
I am a big Neal's Yard fan and was surprised to find that they're big in Japan too. The restaurant (it's more restaurant than cafe) is owned by them and serves lovely vegan food. It's a little pricy, but it's Tokyo so not surprising. The setting and decor are gorgeous however. They have a small menu with bento box-style meals and everything we tried was great - deep fried soy meat, cakes etc.
Read moreMy favourite part was the setting, but I would go back here for the food too! It's also in a really nice area.
Pros: Beautiful setting, Beautiful and delicious fairly healthy food

Brown Rice Cafe - Edit
Didn't plan to come but I was in Shibuya around 3pm and all the other vegan restaurant/cafe were already closed. This place is easy to find. Many foreigners here. The staff speaks a little English. I chose a set with "Today's Special" with a main course of tofu. The restaurant is very relaxing. It's big and with outdoor seating. If it wasn't that cold, I would have chosen to sit outdoor.
Read moreAs suggested by its name, the bowl of brown rice is really tasty. Surprisingly the lotus root is also delicious. I just don't like that their set isn't without any salad or vegetable..... Would appreciate to have more veggie.
Pros: Yummy brown rice

Great food but a little expensive - Edit
Great food and a nice atmosphere. It was too expensive from my perspective but if a 1,700 meal is in you budget, then definitely go for it. Meals were 1,500 to 1,700JPY
Read moreI had the daily special and my partner had the curry. Mine came with two bowls of pickled radishes, two pieces of fried tofu, a bowl of something I couldn't identify (maybe a root vegetable), rice, and soup. The rice had some kind of salty topping that was delicious. The soup was ok but a little bland. The tofu was great, but I wish there had been more of it. Overall, though, a good portion size. This is the first time in my trip to Japan that I’ve felt completely full after eating out. If the price were lower, I'd love to go again.
Pros: Good food, Good serving size
Cons: Expensive

Amazing fresh meals - Edit
I went to Brown's Rice 3 times in my trip to Tokyo and I was thoroughly impressed every time. All the meals may look small but I always left feeling perfectly full. Every meal is so light and fresh and tastes amazing. It's a very trendy cafe and always busy, but not so in an annoying way. Completely recommend this for a very healthy lunch!

Went here for lunch with my Mum and it was a lovely expirence to not have to worry what was in the food. A lovely restaurant with a lively atmosphere, quite busy but not crowded. Great food, had bamboo steamed vegetables with rice, miso soup and pickled vegetables. Absolutely delicious and had tofu cheesecake for the first time, beautiful presented. Great expirence.

beautiful, calm space, delicious food - Edit
This was one of my favourite restaurants in Tokyo.
Read moreIt is connected with Neals Yard (London based organic cosmetics and herbs brand + spa).
The interior is very naturalist, calm and cosy. You can see a garden and the Neals Yard shop through a large glass window.
The food was wonderful -obviously prepared with care, delicately seasoned, with a clean taste, very delicious - for me, perfect! filling but not heavy. If you like heavily seasoned, rich food, you might not be impressed, I personally dislike harsh seasoning and garlic/onion heavy things. So this was amazing for me.
I had the age tofu with miso ginger sauce special lunch set. There was a miso soup, brown sticky rice with black salt, the tofu, as well as a beautifully arranged colourful pickle dish and braised black beans side dish.
For dessert I had the chocolate ice cream made from tofu. It was very yummy, served with candied yuzu peel. I also bought a pack of puffed rice bars for snacking.
If I come to Tokyo again, this will be definitely somewhere I will go often.
Pros: delicious, beautifully presented food, peaceful space, cosy interior, lovely staff
Cons: pricey, portions rather small, a little hard to find

Decent food, nice space - Edit
Brown Rice is about a 5 minute walk from Commune246. They serve lunch until (last orders for food) 5pm, and are open til 6, so I squeezed in an early dinner here. They are all vegan, and have three main plates plus a special. I chose the curry, which was full of beans and pulses, and pretty good (1,300 JPY). It came with brown rice, and a drink (I had hojicha). I also had a pumpkin soup with mochi for dessert (700 JPY). The food was filling and the space is nice, but nothing to rave about.

Fancy and delicious. - Edit
This came across as a fancy, up market restaurant - typical small, gourmet looking serves for a big price. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the food beautifully presented and a wonderful way to present traditional Japanese food but with everything vegan. We loved that there were no 'meat' surprises hidden in our order and the flavours were subtle and lovely. Our fussy 10 year old didn't like much on the menu but the rest of us were game to try anything. We enjoyed the experience very much, and the flavours - but didn't love how expensive it was, especially when we had to call by the bakery after for snacks as we were still hungry! I would recommend this restaurant, but it is more for a special occasion or treat than a quick cheap meal.
