No buddy’s of mine - Edit
I don’t quite know where to begin. I’m in Rome with my boyfriend and we had just had the most wonderful day. It was late and after walking around all day, we were starving. We stumbled upon buddy’s - which looked gorgeous from the inside - and ordered a truffle pizza and pizza alla Norma. While waiting for our food, we were dripped on by water leaking from the AC, so we made a b-line for the nearest available table. After the waitress sorted out new cutlery and placemats for us, our food arrived. It was pizza alla Norma and pizza parmigiana - not what we ordered. I asked if they could take it back and a waiter said “can’t we just put some truffle oil on it?” I of course said no and waited 15 minutes for my pizza to come out while my boyfriend ate his. After finishing my pizza - which was more like garlic bread (no tomato sauce) - we asked for the bill. BTW: while eating our food, we were not asked if we were enjoying our meal by any of the waiters/waitresses . The bill came, with no compensation. I asked if I could have my pizza removed from the bill because I was not able to enjoy it while my boyfriend ate his. The waitress replied, “but you ate it?” I said that this did not matter and what did matter was that I was not able to share a dining experience with my partner on our first evening in Rome. She went away. She came back again and said, “you could have sent them both back and had them at the same time”. This was never an option and they would’ve had to have chucked two pizzas away so it’s obvious why they did not suggest this. I asked to speak to her manager. She returns, without manager, and says, “how about I call the police?” This was alarming but clearly a scare tactic and we did not budge. We asked to speak to the manager again and she went away. After waiting another 10 minutes, she returns and says, “pay at the bar” and walks off. We finally get our discounted bill through gritted teeth. Also, if all this isn’t enough to put you off, they bottle tap water and charge you for it.
