Best vegan spot in the valley for a reason - Edit
Every dish here is crafted with care and perfection for optimal flavor. Even non-vegans would be impressed.
Read moreIt acts as a hub for all things vegan in the desert as well, with several vegan grocery options available for purchase.

(H)its the spot! - Edit
Chef Tanya’s Kitchen is my go-to comfort spot whenever I’m in the Palm Springs area. It’s a casual lunch counter and deli serving veganized classics—think nostalgic sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, and desserts—but done with house-made tempeh and seitan that actually have flavor and texture dialed in. Most of the food is packaged and ready to grab for takeout, but there’s also a stand-up counter and a few communal tables if you want to hang out and eat there.
Read moreI’ve been frequenting Chef Tanya's since she opened her Palm Springs location, and she’s consistently warm, friendly, and super accommodating. This isn’t “health food” vegan—it’s indulgent, satisfying, and absolutely hits when you’re craving a legit sandwich or dealing with hangover munchies. My personal favorites are the Chupacabra Chick’n, El Cubano, and Pastrami Mami. If you skip dessert, you’re doing it wrong: the Peanut Butter Cup Parfait is dangerously addictive. The Crack Cheese is also a must—grab some to go and thank yourself later.
Not everything is a hit for me; I’m a huge potato salad fan, and that’s the one side I wouldn’t recommend—I make better vegan potato salad at home. It’s also on the pricey side, so it’s not an everyday stop, more of a “treat yourself” or “I’m really craving Chef Tanya’s” kind of place. The Palm Desert location and the Kreamery are lifesavers in the brutal summer—hands down the best vegan soft serve in the area!
Pros: packaged foods to go, awesome desserts, nice vibe
Cons: high prices

Chef Tanya Rocks - Edit
We are visiting Palm Springs for a week and we were happy to find this place. You order at the counter in one location. You can also purchase food packaged to go and lots of vegan goodies and gifts. Then the food is brought to you in a location not too far from the place you order. There are numerous tables to sit at. The food was delicious. Such a unique choice of food items. I had a house made tempeh burger that tastes so delicious compared to store bought tempeh. I had a delicious potato salad that reminded me of when I grew up. My husband had a delicious house made chiken Seiten sandwich and his go to mac and cheese. So creamy and delicious. We shared a crisp romaine salad with black beans, quinoa, avocado and pepitas. Our eyes were bigger than our stomach so we brought dessert back to our hotel room. Tomorrow we plan to try their 2nd location where they have vegan ice-cream.

Options for nuts, soy and gluten free - Edit
This place lives up to the hype! It's great. I have allergies to nuts, wheat, and soy so I wasn't sure what to expect. But Summer gave me great help and showed me the options for desserts, salads and entrees. I ended up enjoying the Modern Hippie Vegetable sandwich WITHOUT the cashew cheese and bread. ( Sadly they don't have gluten-free vegan bread). Instead she (Summer )suggested making it a salad and brought me some mango based salad dressing. It was probably the best salad and dressing I have eaten vegan or otherwise. I would DEFINITELY purchase the dressing if they offered it for sale. My husband had the pastrami Mami sandwich ( he doesn't have allergies and can eat anything). He really liked it and I tasted the sauerkraut which was really fresh.
Read moreFor dessert I bought the gluten free organic apple cobbler. I really appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. But it was just right. I plan on returning to grab a couple more to take back home. We're visiting here. They have a nice little store for hard to find items. So our first experience was a winner, and we will be returning this visit. Also I can honestly recommend this place.
Pros: Allergy options, Great fresh vegetables, Mango salad dressing
Cons: Needs a vegan gluten free bread, It's way too far to come more often, It needs dedicated gluten free entrees

Great Vegan Sit-Down or To-Go - Edit
Refreshing salads after a hot day. I had the Coachella Forever and my spouse had the special Chicken Rice salad. The food was delicious and the indoor seating area was cool, comfy, and dog friendly. Their watermelon fresca beverage was absolutely refreshing and they offered a free refill on our way out.
Read moreI also loved the little market items available to go. Picked up some vegan cheeses and crackers to enjoy back at the hotel. Definitely coming back while I'm in the area for a few days.
Pros: Delicious 100% vegan, Climate controlled seating area, Quick market items to go

A Vegan's dream spot! - Edit
Back in Palm Desert using vacation ownership and one of the first stops is always Chef Tanya's. I learned about CTK in 2023. We've vacationed here 3 times since.
Read moreI got the Chupacabra Chick’n & husband got the El Cubano . We already have picked what we'll have next time, yet we may get the same exact thing. It's hard to pick which one to get, which is why we have to visit there a minimum of 3 times each time we stay in the desert. I wish the food would travel well to take several items back to Seattle.
We love the potato salad too!
Everything we've ever had at CTK has always been so delicious!
Pros: Excellent menu options, Sandwiches are the bomb!
Cons: Sides are expensive for small containers

i feel so bad😒 - Edit
i feel awful giving a vegan place such a low star. i got their desserts (very expensive) and they made me so nauseous. i tried multiple and they just simply weren’t good, either way too rich or just not tasty. i so badly wanted to go back to give them a try with their hot food, but after my experience with the desserts i just don’t think i would again..😒

I had the daily special (with homemade seitan and lots more fun ingredients) and my husband had the Bahn Mi sandwich, and shared the zucchini almond soup. All were very savory and were really well thought of. Staff was also very friendly and welcoming.

Excellent food, warm service, unfortunate packaging - Edit
We’ve been making road trip stops here since Chef Tanya opened the place, and the food has been consistently great for the most part. In particular, they do tempeh really well here. There’s plenty of healthy food (especially compared with Native Foods, which has gone more in the fast-food direction). Service is warm and helpful.
Read moreThe only downside is the packaging (they use “disposable” packaging even for dine-in orders), which adds a fast-foodie dimension to an otherwise gourmet meal. Yes, they recycle and compost, but it’s still energy-intensive and wasteful compared to using reusable dishes. Consider bringing your own to-go containers to lighten the load on the earth.
Enjoy!

Love it. - Edit
Terrific. I ordered the bah mi with potato salad. The banh mi roll was really fresh and the tofu with pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, Mayo and pickled jalapeño the sandwich was delicious. The potato salad was savory with fresh dill obviously hand made and not from a package. This was my favorite restaurant here in Palm Springs. I’m going again before I leave tomorrow. Yay!

Delicious healthy junk food - Edit
Chef Tanya has a menu that forces you to make tough choices as you can only eat so much. Everything looks great. We landed up having the crispy chicken sandwich and Guadalajara tempeh burger. Tempeh isn't my favorite thing but this might be the best preparation of tempeh I've had till date. Even so, the crispy chicken sandwich was my favorite. The crispy chicken also came with iced tea which I enjoyed. We also had the mexican chocolate pudding and red velvet cupcake. The pudding was nice but felt "healthy". The red velvet cupcake was more decadent and I did enjoy it, but can't say I might go for it again. Overall I'd still love to go here again and try other things on the menu.

Great spot and Chef Tanya is so friendly! - Edit
This is a really great little spot. The “crack cheese” that they make in house incredible. The sandwiches are very hearty and there are a lot of other things in the shop like cake and cookies. Chef Tanya was stocking the shelves and chatted with us for 10 minutes. #Veganuary

I stopped here with my family and we got the tempeh power burgers. They make the best tempeh I’ve ever had, and I loved the Guadalajara option with vegan cheese and hatch chilis. Their little store is packed with goodies; I could have spent hours shopping there.
