Mexican food restaurant est. 2013 in the New Monterey area. Casual, colorful decor. Order at the counter, and food is served in to-go style (disposable ware). Menu is all-vegan and uses some faux meats. Dishes offered include crispy potato tacos, fajitas with side of rice and beans, tortilla chips, taquitos, tamales, and combination platters. Horchata and cake available. Open Mon-Thu 11:00am-8:30pm, Fri 11:00am-3:30pm, Sun 11:00am-8:30pm.

A Monterey must-do for vegans - Edit
This being the only full vegan restaurant within 50 miles of here, it’s a must if you want to eat out and not have to settle for a Beyond burger at an omni restaurant. We frequently eat at their Sacramento location since that’s closer to home and were looking forward to trying the original location for this vacation week we took.
Read moreWe keep jumping around the menu trying different things. We came twice this week. The first night we had our usual Cantaro burritos, and tried a chicken tostada. I’d repeat the tostada again. A couple nights later we tried the veggie supreme burritos and the mega chicken quesadilla. Both really good and I think will be my go-to burrito here going forward.
The dining area is about a third the size of the Sacramento location and there are only a few parking spaces available here as well, but we managed to find a table just fine. Thankfully the first night we had walked in from parking elsewhere.
The menu is ginormous, unlike some vegan places we’ve been to that keeps it down to 10-15 items. This menu rivals the omni taquerias that offer all the categories with multiple offerings in each. I’ve already given some thought to what I’m going to try next time I come in.
They use paper plates and plastic utensils at this location whereas at the Sacramento location they use real dishes and silverware. That’s kind of a bummer, but not a deal breaker.

Best vegan place in Northern CA - Edit
The entire menu is vegan, and the menu is HUGE! The food is spectacular; authentic and filling. There are even drink and dessert menus! The service is fast and the tables are clean. Average meal price is abou $12ish. They often have sports on the TV (in Spanish). This place rules. I always come here when I'm in the area. It deserves more than 5 stars!! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Everything is delicious. I get a meal here every time we go to Monterey. Soooo good. Sauces are fresh, veggies are fresh. This time we got a wet steak burrito and chocolate cake for dessert.

Best vegan Mexican in California - Edit
Great selection of burritos & tacos, I usually come for the burritos, because they make them with corn instead of flour, & you can customize the burritos. Service us great, the salsa & drinks are good a little pricey as inflation goes, but its worth it, because the portions are quite large, so you'll likely have leftovers.

Knew that an all vegan Mexican would be a hit, and it delivered! Flavors were amazing. They don’t shy away from putting some heat in some the dishes, which I love but may not be for everybody. Will be back again when in town.

They have the potential for some super good food. Their spinach enchiladas, asada Street tacos, El Cantaro Burrito, and tamales are some of the best Mexican food you can find, let alone all vegan Mexican food. However, their quesadilla, BBQ chicken burrito, and a few other menu items are pretty awful, imo. If you know what to get/whats good, you'll love this place. But their menu is too expensive and too much variance in quality of menu items.

The asada street tacos blew my mind. This is a fully plant based Mexican Restaurant in Monterey. It is super casual. Note: busy and.very small parking lot. May need to park and walk but totally worth it!!

Nice little casual vegan spot near the aquarium. We stopped by after staring at fish for a few hours, and it was really hard to decide what to order. We ended up with the Enmoladas with Molé and Hurache with Cactus. We definitely enjoyed the food, but it was really nothing special. Probably a 3 star meal, but we’re giving a bonus star for being a vegan restaurant. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.
