Disappointing and expensive - Edit
I'm giving Fancy Plants 3 stars because about half of what we ordered was good, but at the price point, that's pretty week. It ended up being the most disappointing meal of our trip.
Read moreWe ordered the arancini to start, then cacio e pepe and char siu tempeh for entrees. Our friend ordered the panzanella and a mushroom app.
Most people around us were eating appetizers, and I think I know why. The appetizers are great! The entrees fall way short though. The pasta was bland and soupy and just not exciting or even pleasant, especially for $24. The tempeh was fine... quite a lot of sauce, and the yucca was a little bland. The greens were really good but there was barely any of it there.
Basically all of our food just needed salt, which is really frustrating.
Service was fine, though it took a while to get us water and any service, and the restaurant was probably less than half full.
Seems like maybe brunch here is a better option, but I don't think I'd return.
What I will say is that the menu looked and sounded fantastic. So many things you can't find at most vegan places - it just wasn't executed well on our visit.
Pros: Menu creativity, all vegan
Cons: lack of flavor, expensive for what you get
