Came here for lunch and the food was amazing! Everything came out super fresh and quick. Lots of different sauces to choose from and some cool drinks as well. A must-try in Tokyo!

最高 - Awesome - Next Level Karaage! - Edit
Sets a new standard for karaage lunch sets. Find in the basement "chaos kitchen" food court of the big stupid Parco mall. B1f. It's shop #6 on the map in the corner.
Read moreSmall and modest diner style interior without a lot of pretense, but extraordinary food. I went for the Sichuan style lunch set and was happily rewarded by it. The karaage seemed to be tvp or seitan or a blend of both. Not certain where it comes from, but here's hoping it never stops.
Shop has it's own walls, so the horrible smell of death from adjacent death peddlers was not present while eating. Mall has free wi-fi.
Pros: spicy karaage, quick service, friendly staff

Bathe me in oil - Edit
I don’t know how many times I’ve eaten karaage in this izakaya. Izakaya Masaka is my go-to place when I’m craving for something oily and crispy. It’s the best place when it comes to all things deep fried.

Best Vegan Food In Japan - Edit
We found this place by chance and didn’t think we’d get to eat karage, so finding a vegan alternative was very exciting! The karage was incredible! As were all of the other dishes. I’d highly recommend! It was also very authentically Japanese.

Amazing Karage! - Edit
The food here was excellent! It’s a small place, so it does fill up rather quickly. We got there about 5 minutes before opening and we were already the 4th people in line! Highly recommend getting there early, but there is a waitlist that you can write your name on whenever the place is full.
Read morePros: Excellent food and drinks, Delicious sides , Very filling!

Vegan karage was delicious!! - Edit
Service was quick, drinks were cold, food was great. Really enjoy the karage and the deep fried mushrooms. The macaroni salad was pretty plain and the fries were nothing special. Wish I had just got more karage with different sauces! A small place, if it's full you write your name on a list outside and there are seats while you wait.

Oishii! - Edit
Had the lunch set - for ¥1000 yen, you get rice, soup, cabbage, pickles, and your choice of gyoza or karage. Had the karage with lemon and green onion, and teriyaki mayo - both were oishii! The soup was flavourful, my favourite in Japan so far, and the karage was deliciously crispy.

Nice option for vegan food - Edit
Glad there was an option in this area for vegan food. This place was in the mall so it was super convenient. The food was decent but a little greasy on some items. Gyoza was good. I don’t want to say anything bad about it because it was an overall good experience but not my favorite food in the city.

Amazing lunch menu - Edit
We came here twice: once for lunch and then came back the following day for dinner.
Read moreThe lunch was incredible. We opted to have the set choices which with rice and miso soup and would highly recommend.
The dinner was also fantastic but most of the options were deep fried and quite heavy options. They were delicious but a tad more variety in the dinner choices might have gone over better with our party.
Definitely stop at this place if you are in Shibuya!

My #1 Tokyo restaurant in our 1 week trip - Edit
The first two nights we tried to get in, they were at maximum capacity. Usually, we’d just wait. But no, the long snaking line to get in was at maximum capacity as well so they weren’t accepting anyone else waiting. On the third night we learnt from our mistakes and came a lot earlier. We finally got in.
Read moreThe food was not just delicious, but it was exiting. For me it had that WOW factor that is very rare, and necessary for a 5 star rating. I never thought I wanted tempura beans, but yea. Yea I did want them.
Our biggest highlight was their deep fried mushrooms. Salty, crispy, crunchy and UMAMI are just some of the words that would begin describing these puppies. I could eat that shiiii every day.
Quite a bit of their usual menu wasn’t available when we went, which was a bit of a shame, but that didn’t take away from the amazing experience.
Izikaya Masaka was my favourite restaurant in Tokyo that we visited over our one week stay. If there’s one place I would recommend to anyone going near the Shibuya area, it would be this one ☝️
Dined in on 28/6/30
Pros: Delish, WOW, reasonable price
Cons: A lot of regular menu items not available (tease)

Delicious food - Edit
The food came quickly, all hot and really tasty. You have to order via a QR code which isn’t great if you don’t have mobile data in Japan though. Lovely small place, just a few tables, and a nice atmosphere.

Worth the Visit! - Edit
This place was so fun! We came in the evening on the weekend and had about a 40 min wait. It was well worth it though! The food and drinks were great and you use your phone to order so it was very easy. I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner.

Izakaya vibe in Shibuya - Edit
This is a small Japanese style pub located in the basement of the Parco shopping centre, it's small and maybe not terribly clean.
Read moreWe went at lunch and there was a very limited menu, we had gyoza and kara age (vegan fried chicken).
I found the gyoza good but not amazing but the kara age was actually very good, although rather unhealthy.
If you can, I would definitely suggest to visit in the evening.

Unique Vegan Karaage - Edit
When I opened my Happy Cow app to add my latest lunch photo at Masaka, I was shocked to discover that I had not actually reviewed the restaurant yet! Very difficult to believe, as I have been here SO MANY TIMES!
Read moreDefinitely one of the most unique vegan karaage in Japan, with an abundance of delicious sauces to choose from. The karaage is nice and juice, always cooked and seasoned to perfection. Although there probably isn't a bad sauce, my favorites are the tartar, ban-ban (sesame) and the teri-mayo!
Although I think that the customer service could use some improvement, the food itself warrants the 5 stars from me.

Vegan izakaya - Edit
The food here was great!! And the service was very fast. I tried the fried maitake mushrooms, spicy noodles, and salted onigiri, and all were amazing (but especially the fried maitake mushrooms)! It also has a nice location in a shopping area, so there's plenty to do nearby.
Read moreThe only con was that there are only a few seats inside so there was a wait when I went (around the dinner rush). But the line moves relatively quickly, and the food is well worth the wait in my opinion.
