You can choose something from the hot food area or something like a salad or sandwich. There isn’t a menu to choose from. I got the “chicken” baguette (fill and I noticed you could choose half) I was tempted by the salad but decided to go with something filling for lunch. The flavour was nice and they toasted it for me. My partner got 3 veggies and rice. That was tasty too. The tofu was quite spicy. Staff were lovely and it was in a lovely little laneway.

Read moreI had the Tofu Curry and a Black Bean Tofu dish plus a Super Tofu Roll and all were delicious. They were out of the Pork Bun otherwise I would have certainly grabbed one of those as well.

I had to rush here before they closed after checking in at our hotel, it was worth it! We had a couple of bowls with rice, noodles, sweet and sour chik’n and curry, everything was delicious. We also had the pork buns, also very good! I forgot to take pictures before we scarfed everything down. You definitely want to try this place if you’re in the area!

Used Happy Cow app to find this place, turns out it's down a narrow alley next to a little vegan tea shop (not listed on HC) I'd already found in Cairns. Went to Root for a Friday lunch treat after finishing work early - there around 1.30pm. What foods was being served was held in the Bain Marie, most of it had already sold out. My choices were essentially take it or leave it, so take it I did. I had a bowl with a tofu and vegetable option and what I think was a jackfruit sweet curry served with rice. Both were really well made and tasty as, albeit only warm in temperature rather than hot. I'm guessing that's because the business closes promptly at 2pm. Next time I'll make a point of going closer to midday so try what else might be on offer.

I bought a takeaway meal with three combined dishes. I was given a discount due to most food already being bought and looking around the lovely establishment, you could see how popular and happy customers enjoy dining here. Great customer service and Wow flavours! I loved every mouthful. #Veganuary

A fully vegan restaurant that gives you the option to try multiple different items in one meal. We both got the 3 piece box and got a great helping of fried rice, sweet and sour ‘chicken’ and salt and pepper tofu. The menu changes each week and they also have sushi offerings that looked delicious! A definite must go to place if you are in Cairns around lunchtime.

It's always good to find a place where you don't have to think about ingredients as you can eat them all! This is a buffet-style place with a few daily dishes to choose from to create a meal. A little salty for my tastes, but no shortage of flavour here, and it could've been just the choices that day. I chose three dishes to have a big lunch, and it was big - I would've been satisfied with two but I prefer a large lunch so all good there. Like many places in Cairns, opening times are limited, so this is a weekday lunch spot only—you'll need to be organised.

Loved this place! After struggling a bit with the opening hours the last days and always missing the opening hours we finally made it 😅 Staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! We especially loved the BBQ "pork" and the BBQ bun (don't remember the exact names for these but look for the word BBQ 😅). But all the other options were delicious as well!

We'd seen reviews for this place and knew we had to come here on our visit to Cairns. So glad we did as everything was great, from the service to the yummy food. Good portions too! I hope they'll get rid of the little takeaway soy bottles (because, you know, plastic) and use little jugs or jars or something, but overall - awesome and well worth a few visits :)

This is the one food in Cairns I could eat every day. It is so delicious. Love the changing menu weekly. Massive fan of the fake meats. Everything is so yummy, and you just feel really good when you've finished eating. Always so fresh. So much flavour. Great for vegans, meat eaters and everyone in between.
