Worth looking for - Edit
The little restaurant‘s entrance is hidden in the Veganz Supermarket. So it was a little bit difficult to find. But as we arrived we were positively surprised by the nice looking interior and the friendly staff.
Read moreWe went for the tiger rolls as sushi, a bowl and some spring rolls as starters.
The sushi and the spring rolls were amazing. I would definitely recommend going there if you’re looking for some good sushi! The bowl was good, but not outstanding.
Good variety of sushi, bowls, spring rolls and other starters.
The price was alright, some might say a little pricey.
Pros: Amazing vegan sushi , Beautiful interior , Friendly staff
Cons: Maybe a bit pricey, Hard to find

Confused - Edit
On the corner of the Warschauwer Strase, close to the train station with the same name are three vegan shops. The ground floor is for Veganz, the vegan supermarket. On top of that are a vegan shoe shop and the vegan Japanese restaurant called "secret garden".
Read moreThe restaurant looks very Japanese indeed with hanging cloths in the entry. The plants and floor make the restaurant look like a big, beautiful Japanese garden. However, the big tables, big windows, open kitchen and sheer size of the place make the restaurant feel massive and everything but intimate. Also, it turns out the menu is Japanese fusion, with influences of other Asian kitchens as well. The menu is available in German and English and the staff is multi lingual as well.
I felt like having Japanese udon (big noodles) and they were on the menu. The so-called "Bamboo Forrest" is made from udon noodles, bamboo sprouts, sesame, princess beans, yakitori skewers and green tea-tamari sauce. This sounds great, but is in fact as confusing as the rest of the place. Some of the ingredients can hardly be found (like the green tea sauce), while others don't taste like authentic Japanese food at all. That's why the staff was quick to inform me that Secret Garden is Japanese inspired, not pure Japanese.
While I had a decent meal, it was nothing special. The taste wasn't unique, the quality of the ingredients wasn't exceptional and the presentation wasn't above average either. Judging by the menu and the beautiful decoration I expected more, but in fact I was left confused. Do eat at Secret Garden, you'll have a good time, but don't expect authentic Japanese food or anything above average.
Pros: decent size portions, quick service, fair prices
Cons: confusing concept, feels massive, no secret garden at all

What a pleasant surprise!
Read moreWe had a walked in on a Saturday night and the place was so packed that we decided to come back the next day.
But boy oh boy what a good decision it was.
The restaurant is gorgeous and very cosy.
The menu is concise and short but absolutely delicious. The sushi recipes are divine but the prices remain affordable.
We had a plate of each of the 4 piece recipe and shared among the 4 of us, and also shared each of the deserts.
We will definitely come back and are quite sad they don't deliver!
Pros: Delicious recipes, Various menu, Affordable

Really good, but a bit too much - Edit
Also one of the restaurants from the 1990 family. It’s really great for a date night out. The summer rolls as starters were great. The sushi was good, very experimental and you even get a cool dry ice show when ordering several different sushi. It was all just a bit too much. As they use black rice for the sushi, which is really heavy, they could’ve asked, if we really want to eat so much, or explain the heaviness of the food to us.

The drinks were nice, and the presentation of sushi was really cool.

Full of secret surprises - Edit
Went here on a romantic dinner date. No reservation, friendly staff. They have these little gardens beneath glass hidden in the floor below tables. They add some secret smoke surprise when you get the sushi, very spectacular. Food came super quick, tasted wonderful. We shared everything. The homemade lemonades were great and the desserts as well. Highly recommend!

Best vegan sushi in my life - Edit
This all vegan sushi restaurant was truly the best sushi I have had in my life.
Read moreThe place is beautiful, the staff is friendly and the food is even better.
It was surprisingly affordable, we had dumplings, yakitori, and rice rolls for starters, 16 pieces of sushi (which were big good sized rolls) , a creme brulee and 2 homemade lemonades for 42€
Definately try the yakitori, the tempura tiger roll and the creme brulee!
Also if you're into food photography, this presents everything extremely beautiful.
Whenever I come back to Berlin this will be the first place I visit again.
Pros: BEST SUSHI EVER, surprisingly affordable, above veganz store

Amazing food - Edit
The name "Secret Garden" seems fitting because from the outside of the building it is quite hard to notice the restaurant, as there seem to be no signs. It is right above Veganz though, on the first floor next to Avesu.
Read moreWe had the eggplant starter, dumplings, a plate of various sushi, the creme brulée, as well as teas and smoothies. Everything was absolutely excellent. Super tasty and interesting dishes. The presentation of the sushi was really pretty, too. The service was very speedy and friendly. (We were there on an early monday evening.)
Pros: Excellent food, surprisingly inexpensive

Delicious food and super affordable, me and my dad went for dinner and had a great experience and ended up just paying 27$ for 1 main, 1 starter, 1 summer roll, 4 pieces of sushi and some tea. Would definitely recommend to anyone around the area plus it’s super close to the station and to the east side gallery and the wall museum

Amazing vegan Japenese experience - Edit
The secret garden is a bit hidden, located above the Veganz (currently still indicated as The Bowl).
Read moreThe Japanese decor is quite special with stones on the floor and bonzai trees everywhere. There were even lush plants and moss inside our table.
The menu is very extensive including dumplings, spring rolls, sushi, bowls and some desserts. Some dishes include a smoking fountain and burning bowl to roast your saté or 3 level display for sushi, it's quite impressive. To have a full meal you need to combine some dishes or take a bowl. The two of us shared the seasonal dumpling, springrolls, some sushi and the curry soup. All were nice but I like the soup the most.
You cannot reserve at the moment but the place is packed so make sure to come in time.
Pros: staff was very kind, wide variety of dishes
Cons: no reservation possible now, still starting up, some beginners mistakes with , taking orders, quite pricy for Berlin

We went there in their opening week and spent a really nice afternoon there. Not everything on the menue was available yet, but we still found plenty of nice options to try. Also, we didn't wait long for our food and enjoyed it very much. Overall, the service was also fine. We'll be back soon most definitively.
