Simplemente brutal - Edit

Good banana bread and coffee - Very expensive for SE Asia - Edit
Love the location and menu with some pictures, cabinet of sweet streets, from muffins to cookies and cakes, excellent variety of food, pricey for this side of the world, basically paying European prices

Big breakfast was filling with nice variety, price 420p was acceptable for this nice vegan resto. Coconana smoothie not that good, too chunky, and not sweet enough.

Great vegan restaurant - Edit
We ordered a pad thai, mango & red bean curry and a ube (purple yam) smoothie bowl. Smoothie bowl is really thick. Great food. No AC, only fans, could get a little hot in the afternoon.

I have been waiting for the end of my days here to take the time to write my review. I think saying that on 4 days I came to feed my body and soul 7 times apart from the times I took food to the hotel.

Great flavours lovely staff - Edit
We stayed in Alona for 10 days and ate at Shaka quite a few times.
Read moreEverything we tried was good to excellent. Mostly on the excellent end of the scale!
Despite what everyone else is saying regarding the price, in comparison to other food places in Panglao and especially Alona Beach, Shaka's prices are no more costly and are average for this area.
The cold brew coffee is great, we added oat milk.
I loved the Smokey nachos with jackfruit and the Mushroom stack was amazing.
Pros: Flavours , Staff, Variety

Delicious but Expensive - Edit
Shaka offers some of the best vegan food around in central Alona Beach.
Read moreThe vibe is fun and the service is great! However, you will pay the price for the top ingredients and creativity that goes into making the food.
I enjoyed the English Breakfast—one of the best ones I ate in SE Asia. The burger was also pretty good. Best of all was the juice, thick and full of flavor (not watered down like other places).

Overpriced and underwhelming - Edit
We came to Shaka Twice, after being to Shaka in different locations around the Philippines we had high hopes for this one and were pleasantly surprised they had a full menu of what looked like great options!
Read moreOn our first night here we ordered the Clockwork orange, it was probably one of lowest rated burgers I’ve ever had, the mango was really mushy, the mayo had no taste and the burger was earthy. My friends had the same and didn’t even finish their meal. The fries were the only saving grace for this meal. My girlfriend had the lasagna (which was also quite bland with no seasoning) and a mango margarita, they had put extra salt into the drink which made it impossible to drink.
We decided to give it a second try as we hoped we’d just picked the wrong things or a particularly bad chef was on that night. This time we ordered the sloppy Jose and the Wak Wak. These two burgers were presented nicely and were a step above the clockwork orange but still fell short of a top burger position. The patties unfortunately are quite bland and mushy which really let the whole burger down and the sauce just tastes so monotone and didn’t give us much in the way of flavour. We also had some John Lennon drinks, these were brilliant! And would definitely recommend.
One of the biggest turn offs is that because of the brand the prices are very high. (380 pesos for just the burger)
Overall, 1 star for environment, 1 star for the staff which are great, and 1 star for okay food quality. We’d recommend you come for the juice drinks, coffee and maybe a light snack like a cake or biscuit. Don’t stay for the food unfortunately.
Pros: Lots of options., Great coffee and juice drinks., Many vegan cakes and biscuits.
Cons: Very Expensive, Food is bland

Average spot but only game in town - Edit
The menu, while Vegan, is all cooked and not raw or overly healthy. Burgers, rice with limited veggies, pad Thai with limited veggies, etc. You get the idea. Don't think of it as healthy eating but more of a regular place with meat removed. Still only place in town that does that so a decent enough lunch for vegans.

good place lots of options quite expensive but nice to have a vegan place around when there isn’t a lot in panglao. burgers were tasty and a decent portion and the pancakes were good very sweet and the stewed fruit made them slightly soggy after a while but still tasty.

I ate quite a few times at shaka and the food was always.. underwhelming. The burgers were small and nothing special, the nachos were not good. The smoothie bowls were soo delicious but you get such a small portion. They also have amazing coffee. Overall good but expensive and overrated.

Very good food, vegetarian not vegan - Edit
We ate here all 3 evenings that we were in Bohol. Saw lots of reviews complaining about how sweet the food is, happy to tell you that not one thing we ordered was sweet! We had the wak wak burger (didn’t love it) the clockwork orange burger (delicious) the brown rice and veggies bowl (very delicious), the veg lasagna, veg tacos (both good) and the pad Thai (excellent). I asked for a side salad (not on the menu), and we had wonderful chocolate monkey smoothie for dessert (tip: share, it’s very big)

Too sweet, but probably still the best choice in Panglao - Edit
Came here a few times while in Panglao due to the lack of other vegan options. Food is okay, filling, and the staff is friendly. Lots of choices for starters and mains, with a focus on burgers.
Read morePretty much all the food here is a bit too sweet. All the burgers, the fries, the nachos, the "tomato jam", the mains, and even the salads taste sugary. But the burger patties are solid and the buns are good, and the things that are actually supposed to be sweet (like smoothies) are great.
Note that they often tell you that they've "run out" of fries. Usually this actually means they don't have any cooked, but you can wait 20ish minutes for them to make some more.
They also have a loyalty card you can get stamped for free coffee after a few meals.

Nice burger - Edit
I had the sloppy Jose burger. It was a bit sweet for my liking and also the chips are served with a tomato jam style sauce which is also a bit too sweet. 4 starts for being a vegan restaurant on a small island though…

Not bad but nothing special - Edit
Maybe I’m a bit to spoiled by having tried a lot of great vegan restaurants all around the world but honestly for me the food here was not really good. It’s amazing that there is a vegan place on the island and the whole vibe is really nice. The menu also seems to be quite big and maybe it’s my fault that we rather went for dinner and we went for the savoury dishes (maybe the smoothie bowls are really nice). The first time we ordered the nachos, a burger and the vegan stack. The nachos where nice although I was missing the tangy, spicy flavour (no lime flavor and no jalapeños). The burger was good and the fries were really fresh and super yummy. The vegan stack unfortunately was not good at all. The sweet potato hash browns were not fried properly and had a bitter taste and all the other stuff was a bit to oily. We gave it a chance the next day and tried the mushroom pasta and the pad thai. The pasta was OK and the pad thai as well, although I wouldn’t have called it pad thai because it was just some sir fried rice noodles with veggies and soy sauce (I needed to ask for extra lime/lemon and spicy sauce). Altogether I would say it’s really a nice place, the food is not bad but also not outstanding. For us everything was a bit to sweet and to bland without any spice or particular flavour. I was also very much missing fresh salads and fresh veggies. But to be fair the place is nice, the ingredients are good and they really make everything fresh AND they are really completely vegan. They could improve with some more veggies and if they call something pad thai at least get the flavour somehow right. I’d recommend to rework some of the recipes or check how they are prepared and then it’ll be great.
Read morePros: Nice juices (ask with no sugar), Nice place
Cons: Could really have some more veggie & salad dishes, Taste was rather sweet and bland

Wish i could give it a 5! - Edit
The risotto was beautiful, the rice bowl also looked great! But sadly, for some reason at 1pm they had already ran out of chips which go with the burgers, meaning we could get the burgers we craved, because its not the same with the salad! Only to later see that they didnt have burger chips but they still had fries on the menu which people were ordering, could have just given us them with the burgers?!🤷🏻♂️
