Amazing food - Edit
Incredible food, and big portions. Also quite a fancy setting, so suitable even for special occasions. You might need to wait for a table.

Great service, but the food doesn't deliver the punch it once used to - Edit
Having been here during a previous visit to Edinburgh a year ago, the flavours were more intense which made the dining experience far more enjoyable. This time though, it felt that the flavours were lacking. The service was great as always.

The man who souled the world - Edit
I think I may have found my ultimate South East Asian noodle soup bowl. My Laksa was absolutely drenched in flavour and full of delicious surprises including various types of tofu, vegan chikn and wontons. The spicy chilli and coconut infused broth was unreal. I was delirious with hunger and excitement. We also had a mushroom katsu curry which was superb. I’d also recommend one of the soups to start but there’s so much on the menu to choose from it’s difficult to keep your wits about you.

Authentic Asian food - but plant based - Edit
I had a wonderful dinner at Soul, savoring delicious Asian-inspired dishes in their vegan versions. The owner is incredibly friendly and offers great recommendations to suit your taste. Can’t wait to go back! 🫶

Wow what a brilliant place, we tried the laksa and the pineapple rice, both were so delicious. Do not miss this place and remember to book as it was packed even on a Sunday night! Really lovely staff, so much to try I wish we had time to visit again.

Laksa of my dreams - Edit
I think about the Laksa from Soul on a near-daily basis. I think it’s my favourite dish I’ve eaten in the past five years. The balance of spiciness and creaminess, the flavours, the faux meat — honestly I could go on and on.
Read moreDon’t get me wrong, Soul is all-round incredible. So many other amazing dishes, the satay tofu and the bbq combination rice are other favourites. But I will always come back for the Laksa.
The staff are so lovey too, and try their best to squeeze you in even when you don’t have a booking (it’s small and gets really busy so definitely DO book if you can). One of my absolute fav places, highly recommend ♥️
Pros: Flavours!, Lovely staff

Superb Malaysian vegan food in Edinburgh. We tried a tofu satay starter, a noodle/broth dish and a katsu curry made with mushrooms. Absolutely exquisite all around. Service attentive and very kind. Cute, clean and cosy interior. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous food and lovely staff - Edit
We went to the Dynamic Earth museum on a cold Saturday afternoon and by the time we finished exploring we were starving. We didn't have a reservation, so we were really pleased to get a spot for 4 people (and a pram!) in the nearby Should Vegan restaurant. We realised how lucky we were when many people coming after us were turned away due to lack of reservations and the restaurant being full to the brim.
Read moreThe staff were VERY attentive and helpful and despite the place being so busy they didn't rush us and took time to offer us recommendations.
The food itself was spot on. We ordered all 3 soups, BBQ mock duck, Singapore fried noodles, pineapple fried rice, king oyster mushroom with lemon sauce and chips.
We enjoyed everything, especially the mains (though my 5yo loved his sweetcorn soup). The Singapore fridge noodles were packed with veg and the fried rice was so flavourful. I had king oyster mushroom with lemon sauce and it was a fantastic combo of gentle flavour of crispy coated mushroom mixed with a punchy aroma and taste of a rich lemon sauce. The char siu mock duck was also excellent - moist and well seasoned.
Pros: Excellent service and the nicest staff, Good sizes portions, Delicious food

Would give it six stars if I could! - Edit
This is the best vegan food I've ever eaten. It's my new favourite vegan place and I will be 100% sure to visit next time I'm in Edinburgh! I ate there twice and both times was blown away by the flavours and textures. The tofu satay skewers were just incredible. I don't think I'll be able to find better vegan food anywhere (but I'll keep trying!) and I feel so happy that I got to eat here!!

Small malaysian restaurant with great food! Everyone is so friendly there. They refill your water constantly, refilled our pot of tea with hot water and the dishes came quite fast. Even the japanese whisky we tried was great! Booking is required, it was really full.

Malaysische Küche in UK - Edit
