Regarding the cash payment: the table close to you were probably paying using EC cards. It’s a different German circuit that many locals here have. Often restaurants and bar here accept either cash or this EC card because they pay less (or even zero maybe) commission. They already know that tourists don’t have this kind of card so they don’t even ask.
