Serves meat, vegan options available. Onigiri (rice balls) counter-serve and take-away restaurant. Owner speaks English and understands vegan/vegetarian requirements. It is strongly recommended not going at peak lunch time as the restaurant can be very busy and owner will not have time to show you vegan items. All onigiri (except for take-away) are hand made-in-house fresh to order. The umeboshi (salted plum), pickled mustard, and miso with green onions filling options are all vegan. On request owner can also prepare plain rice balls. Open Mon-Fri 11:30am-6:00pm. Shop closes when rice runs out.

Great onigiri, authentic feel, cheap - Edit
A great onigiri restaurant, a few minutes away from the philosopher's path. It's a one-man operation, where you sit at the counter and watch the owner prepare the onigiris with expert hands.
Read moreLots of vegan options, unbeatable price (they're basically the same price as the onigiris at convenience stores), and was pretty good, although a bit too salty.
Note that the restrooms only have the traditional japanese toilets, where you have to squat.
