Great first night in Armenia - Edit
Ararat Tavern was conveniently located steps from my hostel near the Opera house in Yerevan. I arrived at 8PM on a Thursday and it was packed, but they snuck me a seat with another single diner, right in front of the 6-piece traditional Armenian band. I ordered the salad set with hummus, moutabbal, red beans, sorrel, and tabbouleh. I asked them to swap the chicken and they substituted yoghurt (tzatziki). With a bread basket it was plenty for two people - I couldn't finish it alone. The local beer was affordable as well. All of it was delicious. I paid about $30AU for dinner. The next day I returned for lunch and tried the eggplant salad. It was tasty and was a generous portion. Recommended.
