A great place to stay in Chiang Mai - Edit
This place has everything you could want as a vegan. The breakfast buffet has different dishes every day, from traditional Thai food to Western options. The restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes for lunch and dinner, and there's a Thai dessert buffet every afternoon. Even the mini bar is stocked with vegan snacks!
Read moreThe hotel grounds are beautiful with a lovely pool, and the location is great - it's a quiet area that's only a short walk away from the Sunday Night Market and other night markets. Lots of vegan restaurants in the area as well.
Pros: Great vegan experience , Nice room with all the amenities , Friendly, helpful staff

We stay here every time we come to Chiangmai. Elegant oasis close to everything, delicious vegan buffet breakfast. We took a wonderful customized, vegan cooking class with Som #Veganuary

Amazing stay - Edit
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. We got a deluxe pool room and the room is gorgeous. I love being able to go out for a quick dip in the morning. all the amenities are amazing at this hotel and it’s in a really nice area. Close enough to everything you need without it being too busy.

A special place - Edit
We stayed here a week in August 2023. The pool area is a little small, and made of tile that makes it slippery when wet. Scary. Service at the front desk was hit or miss.

Away with the fairies - Edit
I like away a lot and like to support a fully vegan hotel. However, it's begrudging support. Firstly, that during the booking process the price mysteriously escalated through the booking process from the initial amount, up to the last price given which was further increased by adding taxes. Secondly, that i paid for a suite but was given a largish hotel room. When I said this isn't a suite the response was that it's what they call a suite. Third, I booked for a half board stay, however choices for meals were limited.
Read moreIf I knew about these issues in advance, i would have been happy to stay anyway, but it was annoying that what I got didn't match the expectations that I initially got when I saw what I thought was a great deal, but turned out to be just a bit better than an average deal
Pros: Fully vegan , Quiet, calm, relaxing environment , Great location
Cons: Expensive and extras get added through the booking, I booked a suite, given a large room, not a suite , Limited choices on set meals for half board

Really wanted to love it - Edit
Away Hotel provides a good experience in a good location in Chiang Mai. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very attractive and the facilities are very nice. The bellhop/doorman is especially kind and gracious. He really made our stay. I really wanted to love the place, and I am so happy to support a hotel that is supporting vegan values. Nevertheless, there were a few hiccups. First, our reservation got botched by the system. Definitely double check your confirmation upon receipt. The system dropped one of our days from one of our rooms and billed us different rates for the same type of room. The hotel was eventually able to resolve the date issue, but we ended up in a less desirable room at higher rates. Upon check in the reception was a little icy and unclear (made worse by the reservation mix up). The breakfast was fully vegan, but the baked goods were all cold. Could definitely be improved. Lunch at the restaurant was even worse. You’ll be better off to skip the food here and hit up some of the local vegan spots. Ultimately it was all very fine and I would go back. But I do wish this vegan hotel could provide a fully comparable experience to other similarly priced alternative. It has a lot of potential.

An absolute dream. - Edit
Spent three lovely nights in this vegan resort! Not only was the space beautiful, but the staff was so friendly and how nice to have vegan breakfast buffet at a hotel and not have to be limited in what I could eat! Loved the snacks in the mini bar and the pool was super refreshing. Also it’s in a great location to the old city, the night bizarre and plenty of other vegan restaurants. I will definitely stay here again!

Brand New Vegan Oasis - Edit
After searching for hotels at the last minute, I narrowed it down to two choices: this and another hotel nearby. I came down to whether I book a place I was more familiar with or support the vegan/veg movement. I'm so happy I decided to support the movement! Away Chiang Mai is advertised as a vegetarian resort, but I find that most if not all options are vegan. There is also Green Tiger, which does the same so as not to put off potential regular guest bookings, and as much as I love Green Tiger, Away Chiang Mai is a step up.
Read moreThe property is lovely... From the first moment you are greeted by the friendly staff who offers their welcome drink (butterfly pea powder tea) and scented towel to freshen up to the beautiful colonial style decor and soothing blue tile theme in the room, everything is well thought out and gorgeous.
The manager on duty the night I arrived had already upgraded my stay to a pool view room. She was extremely kind, but when I learned the room came with a shower only, I asked to be switched back to the room I booked which came with a large bathtub. I had just come in from three weeks of volunteer work and had been looking forward to a good soak. Lol. No regrets. The toiletries are jasmine scented, so the whole experience was perfect.
Rooms come with stocked minibar fridge and mine had 4 complimentary bottles of water. There is also a kettle plus coffee and tea... handy if you haven't booked the free breakfast included.
I've had dinner at the restaurant two nights in a row, the only customer being served. I hoped this placed starts heavily advertising or gets noticed by word of mouth, because the food is super fresh and delicious. I've had some of the same dishes prepared elsewhere, but the Away chef takes it to next level good! And you can't beat the restaurant staff. These two are awesome!
I've booked a third night!
Pros: It's wonderful to have a vegan resto where you sle
Cons: Location: Since it is so new, many people have not
