Vegans tolerated - Edit
Staff were friendly but not knowledgeable about what part dishes labeled "vegetarian" were also vegan (no vegan label on the menu).
Read moreA decent option when you're the only vegan in the group, but not otherwise.
Crispy garlic tofu is vegan and tasty
Pros: Decent for mixed groups, Friendly staff
Cons: No vegan labels on menu, Staff not confident which items are vegan

Get the cauliflower small plate! - Edit
Stopped by to Bamboo sushi while in Portland. Almost left because I had veggie gyoza and udon in mind, decided to stay. The waitress was very helpful and I ordered the cauliflower with spicy black bean sauce - it was amazing! The sauce was more gingery and spicy than tasting like black bean. I also ordered “crispy rice w smashed avocado”. Meh… not much flavor. If I went again I would literally order two of the cauliflower small plates with a side of rice. So tasty!

Amazing Options! - Edit
I’m surprised this spot doesn’t have higher stars- despite the vegan options not being plentiful they were some of the best vegan sushi I’ve had. We even ordered a second of the Green Machine because it was SO good! I live in Seattle but head to PDX fairly often and will definitely be back for more next time I’m in town.

Very few vegan options - Edit
I don’t recommend this place if you are vegan. Vegetarians will have a pretty good selection of things to choose from but vegan there was barely anything. We were still hungry!

OMG, heavenly vegan options - Edit
We were so happy when we saw ALL the vegan options on the menu at this popular, high-quality PDX restaurant. Wow. We went crazy for the broiled eggplant with miso, the wilted sesame spinach salad and a couple of fantastic sushi rolls filled with fresh, interesting veg combos. (not just boring avocado and cucumber, like most sushi places.) Their drinks are fun and yummy. We saw someone ordering a roasted yam appetizer that looked killer. That's def on the list for our next visit. Great place to go with a mixed crowd of omni's and vegans.

Fancy, Tasty Sushi - Edit
Swanky sushi restaurant with numerous vegan options that were quite different to the usual/basic vegan fare at sushi restaurants - I had an Ume Shiso Roll: pickled plum with Shiso, Japanese Miso Mushrooms: pan-seared with charred negi, miso glaze, and micro greens, and a semi-basic but delicious veggie roll.
Read moreGreat service, restaurant had a nice atmosphere and decor, and the food was relatively healthy (mushrooms fried and drenched in oil), however it is quite expensive! Would go again for a special meal with friends or family.
Pros: Interesting vegan options unlike the usual at sush, Great atmosphere
Cons: Expensive
