Well worth the price! - Edit
Expensive small-plate type restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Probably too expensive to go to all the time, but the food and drinks were very very good. Excellent place for a date night or a special occasion.
Read moreI would pretty much recommend all of the food we got, but especially the Yuca Gnocchi and Sun dried Tomato Sashimi.
Absolutely would recommend!

Delicious but expensive food! - Edit
Got a few plates to share with a friend. Mostly everything was very delicious and unique in flavor. My main critique is that the portions are quite small for the price you pay.

Another Glorious Meal - Edit
I love to dine here when I can afford it. The best broccolini ever. And the strawberry syrup (with rose water) gin & tonic is divine.
Read moreI'm on a mission to try everything on the menu so I plan to be dining here as long as I live in Chicago. There's nothing not to like; from the service to the decor and place settings, to the food presentation. Did I mention it's all vegan and gluten free?

Super well done dishes, comparatively affordable for the quality. Didn’t feel too heavy even though we got some more decadent brunch items! Would definitely come back.

Do not skip Bloom! Bloom is an all vegan tapas style sharing plates restaurant with an open air window at the front. Beautiful aesthetic and friendly waitstaff.
Read moreNow, the food. Holy delicious. Everything we tried was fantastic. The turnip causa was unlike anything I’ve had before. The beetroot tart had a creamy filling. The Sundried tomato sashimi was had crispy rice and the most balanced thoughtful flavors. The crab cake! Omg the crab cake. So creamy and well seasoned with the most delicious sauces. The bbq chorizo flatbread was also great but eclipsed by how fantastic the other dishes were. We topped it off with the passionfruit cheesecake, which was SO good. Creamy and tart with a tahini graham cracker crust and candied pecans and raisins on top.
The best part is that since we came during happy hour, we got 20% off the whole bill. Still pricy, but totally worth the splurge. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.

Would love to go back in person. - Edit
I got delivery from this restaurant last minute when my flight was delayed and I found myself in Chicago for an extra night. I'm so glad I found it, but I know the experience would've been much more delightful in person. I can't wait to go back and try their 10 course vegan menu!

Best upscale vegan restaurant in Chicago - Edit
Last vegan restaurant on our Chicago vegan foodie trip. This time was Bloom. An upscale vegan restaurant. This one hit it out of the park. Everything was really good. Only downside? Portions are small , like an upscale restaurant should be 😺 we ordered the Sun dried tomato sashimi, the Beer tart and the Crispy oysters. We rounded all up with the Passion Fruit cheesecake. Everything was… chef kiss. Easily one of our top 3 vegan upscale restaurants that we have ever tried

A new fave - Edit
I enjoyed the food so much here that I came back to try more of their menu the next day! On my first visit, I tried the sun-dried tomato sashimi, kale Caesar, and turnip causa. I would recommend coming here with at least one other person so you can try more things. On my next visit I got the beet tart, stuffed piquillos, and yucca gnocchi. My favorite dishes were the sashimi, turnip causa and stuff piquillos. The beet tart filling was really tasty (very complex and savory, not sweet) but the crust was way too hard. I suspect it was gluten free so that may be why. I didn’t care much for the gnocchi—it was a bit fried and not really my taste. I prefer tomato based sauces, and felt like this dish could have used some acidity like tomato or lemon to balance it out. It’s a popular dish though so YMMV. Overall I really enjoyed the food and my experience here. On my second visit they brought me a free dessert—which was very sweet, but sadly wasted on me. I hate sweets, and it was 85 degrees outside so it didn’t even survive long enough for me to give it to someone else. It would have been nice if they had asked me first if I wanted it.

Great Flavors - Edit
Lots of small plates for sharing. Great flavors. Asparagus/arugala/sundried tomato Flatbread that eat like a pizza. Delicious. Great Kale Ceaser salad with salted marinated eggplant that mimics anchovies. Amazing cheeseboard, you will not miss dairy. Fantastic fried oyster mushrooms served with braised broccoli, hot peppers, and torn kale. Amazing.

Very enjoyable, happy to pay - Edit
The dishes were very original and well-executed twists on classics. We had the socarrat, which was original but not as crunchy as I would have wished. The grand cheese board was amazing, and the porcini pate to die for. They provide a variety of nuts, pickled garnishes, and flavors you can play around with. I was very impressed with their carbonara because the cashew pecorino and the sauce truly gave a carbonara feel, reminiscent of pancetta, fat and all. Gnocchi were quite good too, loved the texture of the yucca pasta. For dessert, we felt the camote cheesecake was too coconutty and sweet, without that sourness that gives you a cheesy feeling. I ordered a Neda's cup to drink that was lovely too. Great experience overall, thank you!

vegan fine dining - Edit
lovely atmosphere and attentive service. i did the 2's tuesday meal with a friend, which is two appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert. our appetizers were the crab cake and tomato sashimi, both were delicious. the crab cake was a significant portion even for sharing and had a great texture and was wonderfully salty and savory which paired well with the emulsion it was served with. the sashimi had perfect crunchy rice and i could have drank a bottle of the kabayaki sauce. for my entree i had the bibimbap, which of course wasn't traditional, but was a wonderful take on the dish. the seasoned daikon was delicious, but i wouldn't call it "bulgogi," the pickled cucumbers and kimchi carrots created a great acidic balance to the dish. our dessert was the camote cheesecake. it was delectable, it was so gorgeous and creamy, and the berry sauce it was served with paired perfectly. the almond tahini crust was better than i could have ever expected. with the meal i had the neda's cup cocktail which was citrusy and gingery and so refreshing. this restaurant was such a special treat and every single dish was excellent.

Best items are the ones they invented! - Edit
The atmosphere is fantastic and the cocktail/ mocktails stellar. The sad news first: The “crab” cakes are well flavored but sadly clagy and oily. The yuca gnocchi have texture that is not good but the flavors are perfect. The happy news: the TURNIP CAUSA is an invented dish worth traveling for, a crispy turnip croquette wrapped in nori and topped with a purple slaw and “caviar”. The SUN-DRIED TOMATO SASHIMI is also yummy and surprising. Their house made cheese ranks in the top 10 in the US. I have tried a lot of new artisanal cashew cheeses and they know their art.

I'm surprised you found the gnocchi texture to not be good! I just had it and I thought it was the best part of that dish...

Best vegan fine dining in Chicago - Edit
Bloom has been my favorite vegan restaurant in Chicago, they know my name by now so the service is incredible to say the least. They are a eco-conscious restaurant that provides sustainable, healthy, and delicious food. My favorite item on the menu is the turnip causa, it never ceases to amaze my tastebuds. They have some hits and misses, but overall I couldn't tell you a vegan restaurant in Chicago with a better environment and menu than Bloom.

Great Food - Edit
Bloom was so good. We went there for my birthday and I'm so glad we did. It was the type of meal where you don't talk much but keep saying mmmmmm. The ambiance was great and the service was wonderful. Each person who dropped food off at the table described the food we were about to eat. It was such a nice touch. The cheese plate was my favorite with the truffle cheese being my favorite cheese on the plate. Everything we had was spectacular. I can not recommend this place enough. I loved it.

Unpleasant experience - Edit
We dined in for brunch at Bloom and had high hopes when seeing the large menu and nice reviews. We didn’t love any of our food. We started with an appetizer - Baja Tacos and those were tasty but were too salty to really enjoy. We ordered the eggplant omelette which arrived too burnt to enjoy. It was nice and creamy on the inside but too burnt to finish the whole thing. Finally, the shrooms and waffles were decent but the mushrooms were heavily deep fried and didn’t taste like fresh mushrooms. For the prices we had to pay, we would expect better tasting food than what we received. We also had extremely poor customer service. Our waiter took our order and we never saw him again. A different server brought us our food and our waiter was seen in the back of the restaurant talking with coworkers for long periods of time. He never checked on us or asked how everything tasted. When it came time for the bill we waited and waited until finally we got up to ask the hostess if we had to pay at the host stand because no one was bringing us our check. She then got our waiter to come back over to us. Disappointed was an understatement.
