Comforting Porridge - Edit
Bonjuk is a franchise specializing in Korean rice porridge and their menu includes more than 6 vegan-friendly options listed under 'traditional porridge' (전통죽), i.e. black sesame (흑임자죽), pumpkin (호박죽), red bean (동지팥죽 & 단팥죽), pine nuts (잣죽) and mung bean (녹두죽). Of course, the plain, white porridge (흰죽) is also vegan.
Read moreEach serving of porridge is served with Dongchimi (watery radish kimchi - vegan!) and three other side dishes (not vegetarian, so best tell them in advance if you don't eat them). At this place, you also get a cup of sweet Maesil tea for free.
Servings are generally large and can be shared or leftovers taken to-go.
This branch of Bonjuk is located amidst the student village (Gosichon) in Nokdu and is open everyday. Staff is friendly.
