My fave vegan place from Sydney to Melbourne - Edit
This is my fave spot hands down. The menu is wide and every item is amazing. I had the best meal of my life here (see the photos), my friend and I went all out and smashed heaps of food and were still thinking about getting takeaway. Definitely drop in even if you’re just visiting Melb.

So good, we visited two days running! - Edit
We loved Brother Bon so much that before we had even finished our first meal with them, we had booked for the next night - a decision we did not regret. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Read moreExcellent food, good value, and a buzzing atmosphere - especially on our second visit, which was a Friday. And the people are so friendly, even though the restaurant is huge and so busy.
Night one, we ate Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, Peking Duck Pancakes, Chilli Basil Fried Rice with chicken, and Chilli Garlic Prawns, and we rounded off with Brother Bon’s incredible house made ice cream - I recommend the mint choc chip. Night two, we started with the Tofu Bites, followed by Bon’s Fried Chicken, Vietnamese Fried Rice with chicken, and chips (don’t judge). No room for ice cream this time.
We will definitely be back the next time we’re in Melbourne!
Pros: Great food - extensive menu, Lovely people, Buzzing atmosphere

Will be coming back! - Edit
Completely vegan menu and everything we ordered tasted great. The service was also exceptional! It can sometimes be overwhelming going somewhere to eat when everything is an option, and their menu is truly massive as well. Their photos really helped us with making a decision.
Read moreWe ordered the cheeseburger cigars, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Burger. Everything we ate was SO good. The Cheeseburger Cigars in particular was one of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time. WE LOVEDDDD THEM. The Hainanese Chicken was Smokey and flavourful and the burger was crispy with a sweeter sauce.
We also got two mocktails the Saigon Sunset and Watermelon Mojito which were both fun and sweet.
We will definitely be back!

This has to be one of the best vegan spots in Melbourne; I hope it’s around for a long long time! Never had a bad dish here, which is impressive considering they have one of the biggest menus I’ve ever seen!

All time favourite restaurant! - Edit
I love this place so much! I’ve lived in the area for 6 years and have tried lots of vegan places around Melbourne and this one takes the cake! My partner and I come here for every special occasion we’re celebrating. We always order the pho and katsu sando, those are the best!! We often try a third dish for something new and the rest of the menu never disappoints!

I still miss the old bam bam - Edit
I love brother bon and all the new changes since they stopped being loving hut years ago, but I still miss the old bam bam dish and wish they'd make it instead of the new version! It was seriously iconic. Also the food is extremely expensive... Most expensive broken rice I've had and I was shocked I had to pay extra for the lil soup that is usually included everywhere else you get broken rice! But the food is delicious and I'm happy to see a vegan restaurant still going after all these years.

Incredible food - Edit
My partner received a voucher for Brother Bon so we went for dinner. We shared the tofu entree which tasted like battered fish, it was amazing. I ordered the satay udon noodles and my partner had the hanoi salad. Both had great flavours and huge portions- we both took home leftovers.
Read moreSo many creative gelato flavours and cones to choose from. I got bubblegum and my partner got black sesame which we both loved. Highly recommend! Bit pricey but great for a special occasion.

Good but it's overpriced, processed pub food - Edit
Don't think this place deserves the hype it gets, as (I suspect 90%) of the food is some from a packet (frozen imported mock meats).
Read moreI like vegan junk food/comfort food, but when they charge premium price, I expect a bit more (like house made sauces and seitan).
The food here is what I'd expect to get a pub for a fraction of the price.
Mate got fried chicken for $32 and payed an additional $8 for measly side of mash of gravy. They gravy was watery and looked and tasted to be from a packet.
Our food all came out at different times, which was frustrating (at least a 10 minute wait). Mate was almost done their dish when mine came out. No one checked to see if we wanted more drinks in between. Alcohol also really expensive.
Far too expensive and not a lot fresh veggies.

Brother Bon has always been one of the most recommended places to go to so I'm so glad I finally got to go. The menu is so extensive I wanted to try everything! My husband who is omni was also actually pleased! We got the tofu bites, Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the lion's mane from the specials and they were delicious. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We shall definitely go back!

Best soups ever - Edit
This is probably one of the best vegan restaurants in Melbourne, you must go. The menus are longggg , plenty of options which we as vegan, are not used to have, so its challenging to choose (life is hard). Service is very good, all people are from heaven.

Favourite restaurant in Melbourne! - Edit
My absolute favourite restaurant in Melbourne!I've been here a few times now and everything I've had has been brilliant. I tend to come here more for special occasions as it's a little on the pricier side but the food is definitely worth it. Staff are super friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations (much appreciated when everything looks so good on the menu!)

Disappointing 😣 - Edit
Unfortunately I don’t have much positive to say about this place. My friends and I made a booking here and weren’t given our table until 20 minutes after we arrived. I ordered the satay udon noodles with vegan chicken (you can choose between a range of mock meats and proteins) which ended up costing over $32 even though they were listed on the menu as $29. It should go without saying, but over $30 for a plate of noodles is pretty astronomical. I’d be happy to pay this much for a large plate of noodles if I was sharing, but this plate was really only enough for one person. Staff however were friendly and attentive.

Beautiful food, extensive meal, excellent service! - Edit
We’ve been coming to brother bon for over a year now, most recently last night to celebrate my partner’s 25th Birthday. While the price may be quite high, the portion sizes on the mains make them justified, and the taste and quality of the food is nothing short of extraordinary. From everything entree right through to dessert, you can’t go wrong with anything on their extensive menu, which is a little overwhelming for vegans as we’re so used to just picking either one or two things on a menu in any other restaurant.
